Does anyone know what happened with this?
The band is selling an "Immersion"-style box set on their website (for $170) which contains the remastered CD (amongst other things), but I can't find anything about the CD coming out on its own.
Thanks.

Have also been doin a bit of research but only found info. on the Japanese release ?
I was thinking about start a thread like this. I hope that Geffen will jump on this and release the cd by itself in stores, or the original cd and the live cd that comes with it. I sold my copy of Asia Gold cause I Was hoping to get a remastered copy of the debut. Since Henry Potts knows all about Yes, and Asia is a Yes spinoff, would he have info? Hello, Henry, are you there?

I hate all this immersion crap. Why can't they have an option to just buy the music?

some people love it. If there was an "Immersion" Asia release, I'd be all over it.

There is an Asia Immersion edition - that's what the OP's talking about.
My point is that they should also offer a music-only edition, for those of us who don't care about all of the other crap.

wouldn't that just be the standard CD that's been available for 30 years??
wouldn't that just be the standard CD that's been available for 30 years??Asia's debut was never remastered. So, I see nothing wrong with just a remastered one disc version. Or, at least, give us a version with the remastered cd, live cd, and documentary dvd without the t-shirt, poster, and vinyl. Or sell the vinyl separately as well, for people that have record players.

Asia's debut was never remastered.
Yes it was. See post #7.
To me, gold cds don't count. I meant on a regular cd.

I gold CDs don't count, you might as well re-buy Asia Gold which has the entire first three albums, their B-Sides plus the extra tracks from Then And Now remastered for about the price of one CD.
The first Asia album has never sounded that good and only a decent re-mix might improve the sound. FWIW, the vinyl is slightly better than any of the SACD-SHM or CD versions, but not by much.

No, I'm talking about being able to buy the remastered version with all of the musical additions - b-sides, demos, bonus tracks, live tracks, etc.

Does anyone know what the extras for the CD are?
I'm not sure any decent live recordings from the tour exist . I own two vinyl bootlegs and both are average at best audience recordings !

It is a nice set for sure. Just dont have $170 to spend on it. Wish they offered just the two CDs and DVD as a package.

i wouldn't worry too much, fellas. i'm sure they will release a single CD version after the box set release. come on! they're going to remaster the album and only use the remaster for the box set, right? :)
I purchased both the Japanese version and the US versions of the box sets. The Japanese version is worth every penny I spent. It is very nice. The US box set gets released on Dec. 20 so i will chime in then with more details.

Does look like a nice package. Guess it means they're touring again if those "golden tickets" have to be redeemed.

Not necessarily. They even state below the Golden Ticket blurb that "Asia reserves the right to reschedule or cancel".

True, but I assume there's some intentrion to mnake good if they're putting it out now.
The one downside I see is that the B-sides dont appear to be included-- everybody probably has them already, but it would be good to have them on for completeness sake.

The (US) box set looks pretty poor to me. Anyway, I don't know what's happening with the vanilla remastered CD and vinyl re-releases, except the vinyl comes out in Japan next week. I presume we'll see releases elsewhere in due course, but who knows...?

I agree, re:the US box. It looks like less than $100 worth of stuff, even if you would actually want all of it: cd $15, rarities cd $15, DVD $20, single $5, T shirt $20, pin & medallion $10, booklet $10, name in box set $0, random other crap $0.
The only thing I find really enticing is the possibility of a full live original-lineup show from the group's heyday on a DVD. The Japan-only box lists the Pine Knob 1983 show on DVD as a part of the box set. But is this a video DVD? DVD audio? A full show? Just a few songs?

Jesus, I hate when they release different things in different countries.

HenrySo, there is a one disc remaster coming out?
