Sir Patrick Moore, who has hosted the long running BBC TV Series "The Sky At Night" has passed away. Their will never be another like him. His love of the stars and his quest to understand the mysteries of the universe has inspired so many of us. May he rest in the heavens he so dearly loved.

Honestly couldn't have said it better myself - for so many of us here in the UK, The Sky At Night filled us with wonder at the heavens for decades, and PM's intellegence and enthusiasm were a big part of what made the program so special. He also played a mean xylophone, too! RIP Sir Patrick, they broke the mould when they made you.

He may have loved the heavens, but he didn't care so much for women, or foreigners, or people of colour...

...still, it's all lovable eccentricity...isn't it?

^ He was born in the 20s, things were a bit different then when he was being taught. Not very relevant.

As someone wrote on Slate, about Moore's death: "As when they are still alive, I don’t think we necessarily need to forgive the recently deceased their failings, but neither should we let that keep us from praising their accomplishments."
