Saw an ad on television about a week ago for Jeff's ELO tour coming to Tampa on July 7, 2019.
Never thinking the tickets would go on sale so early, I held off getting a pair.
My wife kept bugging me to check, so this morning I went online, and yep, they're already on sale.
In fact a lot of the seats were already sold or not available.
Got a couple of good seats near the aisle and just off center in the second section from the floor.

If you're thinking of going, I'd get my tickets now because they look like they're selling out fast.
Last time Jeff came to the States on tour was for the ZOOM tour, we had tickets and then they canceled the show due to lack of sales.
So, really looking forward to this one, plus it's on my b'day weekend. :)

Lynne toured ELO in the USA this past August. He must have done well enough to come back for another round of dates this year.

Also - the awkwardly named "The Orchestra Starring ELO Former Members" is out there touring also. They were touring my (Mid-Atlantic) area over the last couple of months and have a date at the Arcada Theatre in St Charles, IL on Nov 10th. They are also doing the Moody Blues cruise in February and the "Rock & Romance Cruise" (along with Leo Sayer, Little River Band, Orleans and Firefall) in March.

ah yes, you're right. I believe the tour was limited to some of the major cities and that was it, is that right?

I so badly would like to drive up to Chicago and see this but the cheap seats are $180, 280 for mid level floor seats and 400 for premium, 650 for up close. Goddamn these are higher than Sir Paul tix. I know it would be stellar but holy crap.

Yeah, what a career bump Jeff Lynne is getting, eh? Lots of it due no doubt to ELO music popping up on movie soundtracks everywhere (Guardians of the Galaxy, I'm looking at YOU!) Plus a healthy dose of post-boomer nostalgia. He deserves it IMO, although it's a shame the full 70s band can't share the love.

The seats here in Tampa at Amalie Arena weren't too bad for a major concert act. Floor seats in front of stage were $195, first tier $175, second tier $125(our seats) and then upper tier were $45.
There were some higher priced seats on the sides, never been to this venue so I'm just going by the chart on the site.

Yeah I agree, he deserves it. In the little interviews with Jeff during the Live at Wembley Stadium DVD he pretty much seems in disbelief at the reception he's receiving these days.
It's just simple rock n roll that's easy on the ears and makes people feel happy, and I think the world's become so complicated and serious, his music is a welcome relief.
I find it interesting(again from the in between clips of the Wembley DVD) that it seems there are a lot of younger people, ala Paul McCartney, who come to the show with their parents or on their own.

Good Afternoon Music-ears!

WOW!.... tickets are certainly getting pricey. Now ELO (Roll Over Beethoven when it was an early play on radio) was my gateway to this genre Pprogressive rock. Imagine my ears, as a young rascal playing in two orchestras, when what I heard was a perfect meeting of my young Rock and Roll enthusiasm and my development in exposure to Orchestral Music. Simply... F&%^(nG magic!

Anyway my first opportunity to see them was in '76 or '77 (I was 15 or 16) and on the New World Record tour. Tickets were probably less than $10. And live... Violin and Cellos with pickups/amplification! Fantastic ~ a standout of 'my' music listening history!

Think I will pass in 2019

I had a chance to go this past Summer, and was actually quite excited about it, since they haven't been here in 25+ years. And then I saw the ticket prices and decided to stay home.

I love some of ELO's works but that is ridiculous.

That seems really high. I saw ELO in Detroit back in August. We were in the lower bowl and they were $149. Next summer's tour is coming to Grand Rapids, which is a lot closer to me, but I will probably skip it. The show was really good, but once was enough for me.

"The Orchestra" is what evolved from ELO Part II back in the day. I think the only person left in the band, who was actually a member of ELO is Mike Kaminski. Kelly Groucutt was a member before he passed away. They also have Eric Troyer, who was the lead vocalist of ELO Part II, and Glen Burtnik who was a member of Styx for a while.

Don't forget this weird piece of ELO history..
A founding member of ELO has been killed in a freak accident when a giant hay bale rolled out of a field and landed on his van.
Cellist Mike Edwards died instantly when the 50-stone cylindrical bale careered down a slope, flipped 15ft over a hedge and smashed on to the roof of his van.

Mr Edwards, 62, was known for unconventional cello playing including plucking the strings with an orange or grapefruit and his bizarre customs which became a major ingredient of ELO, the Electric Light Orchestra.
The musician quit the band in 1975 to become a Buddhist, changing his name to Deva Pramada and making his living by teaching the cello.

I don't have a problem with the prices because a) it's on my wife's bucket list of people to see in concert b)it's on my b'day weekend, so it's also a present.
Prices do seem a little high, but if the touring set is anything like the one they used in Live at Wembley, it's got to be an expensive production. Plus there were a lot of musicians, singers on stage with him.
I don't know if it's a trimmed down version for touring or not.

We don't go to sporting events, which to me in comparison, especially the NFL is way overpriced.
I don't know how a family of four could afford a day at a professional sporting event these days.

I just wanted to let folks here know that even tho the concert is 9 months away, tickets are on sale already. And if it's a show you'd like to see, better act fast cause I think they are selling out quickly. :)

I would say that the production I saw was similar to the Wembley concert.

A true story:

Four years ago, I met a Cal student, nineteen or twenty years old, who amazingly enough was into music from the 1970s and 1980s and had heard of Kansas, Boston, Styx, Toto, and Dire Straits (though not Yes).

"A few months ago I discovered this group; they're kind of orchestral."

"What's their name?" I asked.

"Ello." Rhymed with "mellow."

"Ello?"

"Yeah, Ello."

"Never heard of them. They're from the 1970s?"

"Yeah, they call themselves Electric Light Orchestra. Ello."

"Oh! You mean E L O!"

"It's not Ello?"

The younger generation, raised without radio, is tragic.
