I got this idea from the AV Club and Metafilter, where a thread on this has gone nuclear.

Yeah, I must say that Partridge Family chick was amongst my very first attraction to girls (I don't remember crushing on entertainment adult women)

A bit later on, although not really at first , the sitcom One Day At A time's Valerie Bertinelli was a major crush of mine as well.

In the meantime, I remember being partial to one or two of the sisters in the 8 is Enough series... but I couldn't tell you their names

Bardot, Mansfield, Ekberg, Vitti and especially Norma Jean.

Marilyn and Brigitte were my dad's two major crushes, much to the ire of my mom (he use to drag her to all their movies), who thought they were vulgar blondes

Oh hell yeah. There were two that were drop dead gorgeous, the blond and one of the younger sisters with long brown hair. Hot!

Never understood all the salivating over her. Yes she was pretty, but skinny and gawky. Shirley Jones (Mama Partridge) was better looking.

Imdb says Honey West (1965–1966) was a TV series, consisting of 30 min episodes. This is their blurb: After the death of her father, sexy Honey West took over his high-tech private detective firm, assisted by rugged Sam Bolt and her pet ocelot Bruce. Stars: Anne Francis, John Ericson, Irene Hervey.

It sounds great, but I don't think it was ever shown here.

I swear I remember reading somewhere that one of the old Bewitched cast said that if you thought Elizabeth Montgomery looked great on the show, it was nothing compared to the heat she generated in person. I cannot imagine this.

Britt Ekland - I saw "The Night They Raided Minksy's" on TV. The movie was released in 1968 so given the lag time, it must have been '71 or '72 when it aired on network television. My parents were watching as well. I was struck dumb at Britt - that face, that body. My school was packed to the rafter with girls of Scandinavian descent, so my response to northern European blondes was already hard-wired. But goddamn, Britt Ekland lit the fucking fuse.

Didn't forget her. Just didn't have time to look for a photo, and couldn't recall her real name (Erika Eleniak). But I sometimes watch B&W reruns of Beverly Hillbillies even now. I'm terrible at remembering names. So coming up with the wrong actress is not surprising, given that I just entered "Ellie May Clampett" on IMDB for information. Apparently, I also suck at web searches. My apologies to Ms. Douglas. How could I forget? But I agree Ms. Eleniak is also hot. How could we all have forgotten Ellie May?

Had a huge crush on her too. I met her in person in the 70s.

Mary Tyler Moore as Laura Petrie on the Dick Van Dyke show

True Mon True ..... :lol

That brings back memories. MTM was beautiful. Only problem with her is she's a shade too boney from the waist down. But overall, very attractive. I think she still looks good for her age. No I wouldn't "hit it" now but just sayin.' ;)

No love for Ann Margaret other than me?

One of the hottest to have ever graced the planet, when I was courting my bride I'd tell her that she looked like a young AM and fortunately for me it's still true 30 years on, but I digress

The best culture crush story I've got was told by a guy I used to play basketball with back in Queens in the day - he was telling us how crushed he was that his childhood sweetheart, none other than Doris Day, had apparently been fucking Maury Wills during his childhood infatuation with her

He seemed genuinely hurt!

Forgot about this one. Definitley one of my earliest TV chick crushes. Kathy Garver was in a show called Family Affair. Some of you oldsters probably remember it.

Kathy played "Sissy" the teenaged daughter (bottem left):

Ann-Margret was so sexy.

And always has been. Even since the Stone Age.

Granted, that was before she changed her name from Ann-Margrock. :)

Marilyn Monroe when I was 13. I was also quite attracted to Donna Summer when I was 7 or 8 and was played "Love to Love You Baby" in the car by my father, who proceeded to explain that moanin' vox as an "expression of toothache".

No love for Ann Margaret other than me?

When I was in high school several decades ago I went with friends to attend a wedding in Las Vegas. One of the shows we saw while there was Ann Margaret. Oh hell yes she was hot.

I saw Linda in 1975 when she turned up to sing along with Emmylou Harris and the Hot Band. Wow!

Since Penny and I were roughly the same age, I really appreciated seeing her growing up in her role very much...

I only recently found out Angela Cartwright was a shining star even before she got Lost in Space as a von Trapp sister in The Sound of Music.

Deanna Lund from Land of the Giants. I was 5 when the show was on, but her appearance in every episode wearing boots (I guess it was important to pack an unlimited number of boots for space travel). Those boots have pushed me down a slippery slope of always thinking a woman is prettier in boots.

15 years or so ago, I was sitting at a bar next to some middle aged woman. When she got up to go, the bartender asked me if I recognized her as MTM. I had no idea.
