Original Quo to tour !

I was and still am a huge fan of the classic 'frantic four'. I'm old enough to have seen that line-up first time around, and they were awesome.

I just can't really see this though, beyond nostalgic reasons. Quo aren't Pink Floyd or Genesis, and I can't see the energy that would need to be put into a full-on 70s Quo gig being possible for guys in their 60s.

Add that to Alan Lancaster's reported health issues, and I think I'll pass, unfortunately. 10 years ago, maybe...

Splitting hairs here, but that's not the original Quo. At the time of "Pictures of Matchstick Men" and "Ice in the Sun", they had an organist - Roy Lynes.

Correct - which is why you will see I took pains to refer to it as the 'classic' line-up in my response :)

I had a feeling, they've all been hinting around it for several years.

Wonder if "45 Hundred Times" will be pumped back up to its epic glory? Nah, Rossi has said they can't remember all the changes anymore!

good to hear, Deano. How was the setlist, I'm guessing even heavier on the oldies than before, since they have Lancaster to sing his songs?

I remember an interview where Parfitt was complaining about singing "Is There a Better Way?" (I love that song!) Something like "Lancaster sang that, it's a pig for me to sing it."

I've always had a soft spot for On the Level but there's much to enjoy on all their classic-era albums.

the set list was all taken from 70-76, just the four of them so no keyboards

only three 'hits' played - In My Chair, Rain and Down Down

enjoyed it so much I'm going again next week for Round 2 :)

For me Status Quo were at their peak with in 1973/74 with Quo & Hello, I saw them open for Rory Gallagher in late 1974/early 75 (when he released Irish Tour)

Status Quo was awesome that night and then Rory comes out and plays for 2-1/2 hous...damn!
