View Full Version : Ever notice the similarities between the Rush "Starman" logo, and Giger's ELP logo?

Both are basically complete circle forms.
Both have "steps" at the bottom: the "L" and "P," and the Starman's feet, in perspective.
Very similar in terms of logo design.

I wonder if Hugh Syme copied the Giger ELP logo, subconsciously?
I discovered this when creating our progressive rock tribute band's promo materials...

No, sorry, nothing similar about them at all.

Actually, kinda sorta see what you mean DG.
While I wouldn't say one is a copy or rip or even an influence on the other,
I will say that they are both configured similarly (as you mentioned) in the style of some iconic sci-fi/fantasy symbol that a traveller might find at the door of some mystic realm or something.
Look at enough sci-fi book covers or watch enough sci-fi movies/television, you'll see 'em all over the place.
(well, at least periodically)
A respectable find, I would not have noticed it. :up
