Today is the anniversary of Frank Zappa's death. This is a thread meant for tributes, commisserations, etc., and I really think it belongs on the main board.

Words don't do justice to how sad and pissed off I am that Frank left this earth far too soon.

In Frank's memory I will be performing the Studebaker Hoch Dancing Lesson and Cosmic Prayer for Guidance.
Afterwards, I will be playing variations on that marvellous little arpeggio, the MudShark....

Frank is prog but RIP and birthday threads are usually considered OT afaik.

I got the recent remaster of Freak Out at Best Buy for $9.99 last night. I'll spin that for Frank later.

RIP FZ. The memories of those Palladium Halloween concerts will never die. Always wondered where all the goodies brought up to the stage those shows are stored.

Man, what a way to bring me down. I've stated numerous times here that, while John Lennon is my musical hero, I miss Frank more than any musician. Perhaps it's because I never got to see John and was lucky enough to see Frank five times. Nothing beat those opening minutes at Frank's shows when the band started playing and then Frank walks on stage. Once they launched into the first tune, they rarely ever stopped. Those shows were all special in their own way.

Anyone want to share their most surprising moment at one of FZ's shows? Aside from the Beatles Medley, I'd say it was when they launched into an instrumental of "Let's Make the Water Turn Black," at one of the Pittsburgh shows.
