Great show last night at Hugh's Room. A very powerful 90 min set with excellent sound. They were joined on stage by ex-member Georgina Leach on violin for a beautiful presentation of Songbird.

Yes, great version, and a cool video, too. I'm still blown away, that the original violinist just happened to be on tour and passing through Toronto at the same time, and suggested dropping by and doing a song! I mean, I casually remarked that it looked like her, but was half joking. What are the odds, lol?

Moulettes posted on FB they're looking at doing a livestream on Twitch - they're aiming for 100 followers there to see if it's worthwhile.

If you're a fan it's a chance to see them from the comfort of your own self isolating home

Saw them listed on the site for the Oakville venue so it was good to see them confirm the dates.

If you're a fan they're worth making a trip to see them.

I'm going to the Oakville show. It's a bit of a larger sized venue than they have played in the past over here, and the promoter is hoping to give them more exposure, so it will be interesting to see how ticket sales go.

They have had many personnel changes throughout their career but they have always been an active band.

I'll be at the Oakville show but it looks like sales have been slow - if anyone is thinking about going you can get complimentary tickets.

    This Thursday!

    Four Complimentary Tickets!
    Moulettes
    Thursday, October 12th @ 8:00 PM

    Four Complimentary Ticket Offer!

Moulettes are one of UK’s most unique touring bands and are steadily being singled out from the wave of apparent Bjork & Kate Bush influenced Indie/alt Folk bands that have arisen this decade. They recorded their third studio album Constellations in studios, churches, tunnels, artisan workshops and bedrooms around Brighton and released it in 2014/2015.

Renowned for their breathtaking live shows, it is clear that few bands have the creative range and work ethic of Moulettes. With a brave approach to production and arrangement, Moulettes look for peculiar ways of blending acoustic and electric instruments; For example, by putting Bassoons and stringed instruments through pedals and valve amps.

I'll be there too, along with Dave, Sr. and his posse. Dave was worried about selling enough tickets given the size of the venue, and it looks like this will be the case. Apparently the owner/manager/booking guy, whoever, really likes the band and is trying to push them along. Hopefully, it won't be too sparsely attended. I know that it will be a great show!

The venue has a 485 seating capacity and from what I've gathered, only 60 or so tickets have been sold. I'm not surprised by this. Moulettes are a house band at best. I love them but the reality is that they have very limited appeal, like most of the stuff we listen to.

^ I wouldn't expect anyone to have any idea who they are, tbh.

Maybe Chartwell can get some of the Retirees from their residences down to the show?

Moulettes put on a great show in Oakville last night. And lo and behold, as my gf and I walked into the show during the introduction, the place was about 3/4 full, so over 300 people, I'd say! Even if some of the attendees were on comp tickets, that is a nice turnout and wonderful to see them in an actual theatre, with great acoustics and sound.

This version of the ensemble had four players. The leader, Hannah Moule on cello, and the other three on: cello/guitar, viola/piano and violin. The music was wonderfully eclectic, with everything from improvised, avant instrumentals to a Joni Mitchell cover, with all the players really paying attention to and feeding off of each other. It is really hard for me to compare last night's music to anything else out there.

Definitely do see them on this tour, if you have the chance.

    Neil
