I remember watching the first few episodes and really liking it, but as it went on I felt the writing got progressively lamer and it lost me. Cool concept though!

That is certainly a bold claim, but being mostly through the second season now, I definitely agree this is a step up from the first season and I am enjoying it massively.

I couldn't remember where I left off with Better Call Saul so I ended up re-watching the latter part of season 3. Love the whole "chicanery" between Jimmy and Chuck in that season. Burning through season 4 now.

Anyone watching the new season of Star Trek: Picard?
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

For the most part enjoying it so far, in spite of the plot being a sort of mix of several previous from multiple iterations of the franchise. Suspension of disbelief firmly in place. The acting, cgi, and cinematography are as usual excellent.

Yeah I mean I really liked the beginning, but I dunno, it feels more and more like to me that the writers watched clips of TNG on youtube and researched wikipedia and wrote the episodes around that:P

I know, right? But honestly, a franchise that's been around for half a century, gone through nearly two handfuls of series variations and almost that many feature films; you have to expect a fair amount of going back to the well. I can forgive that, if the quality of acting and production stays high.

A difficult thing for me to deal with is just how much Patrick Stewart has lost in power and presence. I have a ton of admiration for him and his career, but he really does sound a shadow of his former self. They've been smart to focus more on character and less on action in this series. I also think it's good that the third season will be the last and that the filming of it has already wrapped. It's hard to imagine him going forward in the role beyond a short guest spot or two.

I liked the first two episodes of the season a lot. In fact I thought it was some of the best trek in the 21st century, although that is not setting the bar very high.
Unfortunately it went downhill from there.

This was my expectation from the moment this endeavor was announced, and why I've had no interest in giving time to it.

I had to take a break from The Last Kingdom as my insomnia show and watched the first two episodes of HBO's Winning Time: The Rise and Fall of the Lakers Dynasty. Anyone else take a look at this show? The style takes a little to get used to, specially the breaking the 4th wall and for me specifically the fact that the basketballs scenes are staged. But, as a fan of the Lakers during that era I find the story fascinating and the performances, several newcomers and several award winning actors (Adrien Brody, John C. Reilly, Michael Chiklis, and more), are stellar!

RE: Walking Dead. Is anyone else confused as to what happened where to which community? Why is Michonne vanished. I wouldnt know the name of 75% of the characters. Where they came from, etc. Why are some people having some undefined dilemma about something that I have no memory of either seeing or realizing at the time that this "event" was an *Important Emotional Event* and that it might have happened in Hilltop or Alexandria or Seaside or... plus I have absolutely ZERO sense of how far apart these places are from each other.

yeah my thoughts exactly -- Picard S1 was the same way -- the first half was really intriguing but fell apart as it went further and further

You're not the only one. It's bad enough with all the time between the release of each season, but it does feel like it's become less and less clear who is where and the time to travel between locations is very squishy.

    "Squishy"?

Yeah, way back when I used to watch it (why are you still torturing yourself???), I had issues with that as well. For instance, it's logical to assume Alexandria is in Alexandria, VA, no? But where the hell is Seaside? The nearest "seaside" town to Alexandria is over a two hour drive. And that's in Delaware! Anywhere closer would be on Chesapeake Bay or Delaware Bay. So it should be called "Bayside", shouldn't it?

I saw the writing on the wall in S2. The one that hit home how stupid the writers truly are was the one when they came up with the plan to lure the walkers out of the quarry and away from Alexandria. At least twice they showed a dealership (or farm equipment rental store) that had at least half a dozen of these type of backhoe tractors:

Couldn't they have used these to reinforce the barrier at the quarry? So either the characters are really stupid or the writers are. In fact, when it first aired, I stated that the writers were unconsciously telling everyone how stupid they are. lol

Yup, I find it very confusing as to who is where and remembering what happened in the past. Regarding Machone....she wanderd off to the movie set with Rick.

The wife and I started watching "Billions" on Showtime. 9 episodes in, the show is nowhere near as good as "Secession", but it is a pretty good ride so far. Just about everyone in the cast is someone I recognize from other shows. Even the bit players.

I enjoyed Billions a lot, it's not on a provider I use at the moment so it dropped off.
