It felt very sudden to me. It had been more gradual throughout the series until these last few episodes IMO. Overall it was a reasonably satisfying finale, but it wasn't a 'wow'. They did well, but didn't knock it out of the park as I had hoped.

My beloved Kids In The Hall are back and their show is exactly the same as it was! Like no time has passed (apart from them looking older). Laugh out loud funny.

Yeah, it's great. It really feels like they're just picked up where they left off, rather than phoning in some halfass reboot. We get some old favorites (Buddy, Paul Bellini) but they're covering new ground.

We watched the second episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and it certainly has the vibe of the original series but with a more modern sensibility (no miniskirts).

    No miniskirts ?!? Oh Nooooo.

So the second season of HBO's Hacks has surfaced with 2 episodes already out. I made this pleasant discovery the other day. The second season still has the crackle of the first, very watchable. Contary to the concept of a second season continuing at the same level of quality as its first is The Flight Attendant. More of the same in #2 , nothing fresh so far. I think they lost me. #1 was fun.

I liked it too. Its not breaking into any new ground but great fun to watch so far. Above all so far the series hits the right tone. No stupid action, fighting and special effects, but 'a problem of the week' that is solved thoughtfully relying on ethics and science and lots of good character development. Casting is also pretty good. Pike is relaxed and witty as a captain but stays professional. The new Spock stays within in his 'vulcan character' and I love the new Uhura so far. Although the visuals are not excessive (like Discovery) I think the Enterprise looks stunning. Simple and effective.

Looking forward to the next episodes. Wow, who would have thought?

Anyone here watch "Deadliest Catch" on Discovery? I think we may have talked about it here several years ago. I am still an addict and the new season has started out good.

Yes, I love this show! Strong writing and acting. I wish the new season was available all at once, but I suppose that's being spoiled from all the binging in this modern era.

I absolutely love this show. As real as it gets in terms of any survival show...physically and mentally. I love being in the outdoors, hiking, backpacking, camping etc, but this is on a whole other level.

We Own This City - Excellent. The car chase in tonight's episode I do remember from some other Baltimore crap I've watched over the years. They have done a great job but these guys always do.

The Baby - Anyone down with the evil baby?

The Time Traveler's Wife - Starting it now, we shall see.

Is anyone working through the final season of Better Call Saul? Like Breaking Bad this show is quality throughout - story, characters, music, direction and editing, cinematography.

Have it recording. I think we are going to wait and binge watch when this set of shows is over.

We just finished Series 5 on Netflix last night. We could watch it on AMC now, but like you, we'll binge watch it later, probably on Netflix too.

Finished season 4 of “Billions” last night. This show drives me crazy. I like it, but there are things about it that keep it from being at the level of a show like “Succession.”

    • Although there are some great characters and acting in this show, there are also some that I don’t like at all. An example would be the compliance officer Spiros. As my wife said last night, “this guy is like the Jar Jar Binks of Billions.” The character is often supposed to be funny, but his antics add nothing to the show, and comes across completely annoying to me. I am not really a fan of the Wendy Rhodes character either. The actor does a respectable job, but a lot of the things the character does, just seems ridiculous to me.

    • The non-stop pop culture references. Yes, some of them are funny and clever, but they put in dozens of them in every episode and it is just overdone. Pull back on that a bit, and it would make the show better.

    • Too many episodes per season. Each season so far has been twelve episodes which IMO is at least two too many. Each season has had it’s fair share of filler. Season 4 had a whole show about a boxing match between two of the main characters. To me the whole thing just came off as stupid and added nothing to the overall story arc. Waste of time.

    • Intricate details. This show sometimes is lazy about minute details like two characters drinking a beer in a bar. One minute their beer is half empty, the next it is full, but they are having the same conversation. Little things like this are all through this show, but something you rarely see in shows like Breaking Bad, Sopranos, or Succession.

All this being said, there are a lot of positives to this show as well. The Taylor Mason character is amazing. Lewis and Giamatti are both outstanding in their roles and the “Wags” Wagner character is one of the best on all of TV. I am going to continue with this show up to the most recent season. I do like it, but just think it could be better.

Anybody checked this show out yet? It is supposed to be a sequel to "The Wire". After looking into this a bit more, apparently it is by the same people who made "The Wire" with some of the same actors, but not a true sequel.

No, the Winston guy from Ghostbusters is taking that role, or the Whit Bissell role if you want to go back to the Irwin Allen days for a reference.

    You mean Ernie Hudson?

BTW, I was making a joke. Dean Stockwell died this past November.

I had no clue what you were talking about so I looked it up.

Holy shit! I'd totally forgotten about that show. I remember it now. Have no other recollections of it, though. I remember I liked it. Can't remember when I saw it because I was 3½ when it premiered. If I had to guess, I'd say a local station showed it on Saturdays, after the cartoons were over. I think that's when they showed reruns of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and Outer Limits, too.

Do you (or anyone else) remember a show called Mr Terrific? It was about a gas station attendant who secretly worked for the gov't. He would swallow a pill and become a superhero. It was a comedy and much of the humor revolved around the fact that the pill only lasted an hour and his superpowers would give out at inopportune times.

The George Carlin doc on HBO Max is excellent, maybe even better than the Garry Shandling from 2018. Judd Apatow is becoming the Ken Burns of comedy documentaries.

Another comedy superhero show, Captain Nice, aired in the timeslot immediately after that show even though they were on different channels.
I thought those shows were great, but I was 5 or 6, so they were probably really bad.
