I mean...that's totally subjective. For one thing, over time the standards for beauty among non-fantasy human beings has changed radically and is different in various cultures. So who is to say what was considered "fair" among elves? Personally, I really like Cate's looks. It's hard for me to separate that from the formidable on-screen character though.

Holy crap the latest season of Stranger Things was outstanding! Easily the best of the bunch for me so far...and the darkest!

Yeah, but while not gorgeous, Lena Headey is beautiful... in her own way.

As I said, her excellent acting skill notwithstanding. So, in a way, I agree with you. In fact, I was discussing various LOTR's things with my niece, once, and we agreed that casting Galadriel was a difficult task. Cate brought a gravitas that very few actresses could bring so I do give her credit for that and she did make the character her own. The only actress I could think of that I think would have done as good a job and is, imo, considerably better looking is Charlize Theron. The only problem is at that time, Charlie (she lets me call her that) still had a bit of a baby face; she is, after all, six years younger. An older Charlie would have worked better, especially considering she's an Afrikaner, who are of Dutch descent, much closer to the Scandinavian type Elves of the novels.

As for her acting chops, she won the Oscar for Monster in 2003 so she could have done as good a job, I think.

You're right, it is subjective. But...

Sorry, I missed your question. Apparently it is available in Canada on Disney and in the US on Hulu.

He is. I especially love when he and Colin write jokes for each other and Che's are hilarious because he makes Colin out to be this horrible racist.

I always thought Weekend Update hit its peak when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted but Colin & Che are the best, imo.

I also love when Sarah Sherman comes on and roasts Colin.

Agree, I think Colin and Che have possibly become the best of all time. They just have a bond that works and as you say, when they write jokes for each other they are always hilarious. Also agree about Sherman being funny when she gets on Colin. I saw in an interview that Che was considering leaving after this season, but decided to stick around. They are often were the highlight of SNL this season. I thought the show in general took a step back this year after having a strong season last year.

Anyway.......I will have to check out Che's special.

^ I agree about WU usually being the highlight of each show. The one exception was when Zoe Kravitz hosted. Just about ever skit made me laugh, which surprised me.

BTW, Che's show is not a special, it's a series. But there are only six 20 minute episodes a season. Very easy to binge in a day. lol

I'm seeing where HBO has cancelled Raised by Wolves, which I have yet to check out. No report as to if any other network might want to pick it up.

I hate when they do this, as I'll probably never look into it now.

I've enjoyed the first 2 seasons a lot, I think they work well enough on their own merits.

Yep. Bummed they canceled this. To me there was not much else like it.

Well, Barry and The Staircase just have one episode left each. Both have been great. Hacks season 2 was excellent. Kids In The Hall was riotous, Ozark was gripping, and Better Call Saul is on a major mid-season cliffhanger until it returns next month.

With so much finishing up lately, I've been free to move on to some new series, beginning with The Ipcress File. Thus far, very good and I'll definitely continue; I do like a good Cold War spy thriller. After that, the wife wants to move on to The Responder (on Britbox) with Martin Freeman, which looks to be good too, and we also have The Time Traveler's Wife on the DVR.

Wow, that really sucks. I enjoyed the show a lot. As Ian said, the two seasons can stand on their own merits, although there are definitely unanswered questions at the end of season 2.

Amazon Prime is nailing it with The Boys and the The Kids in the Hall reboot. Both are superb TV.

Taboo on Hulu stars Thomas Hardy as the adventurer James Keziah Delaney, long believed to be dead, returns home to London from Africa in 1814 in order to inherit his late father's shipping empire. All is not what it seems, however, as Delaney encounters numerous enemies intent on making his life back in the United Kingdom very difficult. He is focused on building a shipping empire to rival the imperious East India Company, Delaney's other wish is to seek vengeance for his father's death which means conspiracy, betrayal and bloodshed. As he works to accomplish that, Delaney must also navigate increasingly complex territories in order to avoid his own death sentence. Overall I like the way it's handled and the timeline it's set in.

I'm wondering if the new Hulu series, The Old Man with Jeff Bridges will be any good, I hope so.

Indeed! They did a good job of changing the tone of the show. Since the cast is no longer precocious kids. Looking forward to the second half in July.

Finally got caught up on Better Call Saul this evening. Wow, 6 great episodes of what is clearly one of the best shows on TV right now. I think we are in for a wild ride with the last 6 in July.

I see, good to know. I'm glad they didn't abandon the project. It's such an unusual premise, and handled so well, rather unconventionally so at times that I keep wondering where it will go.

On the History Channel after Alone they show another program I enjoy watching, Kings of Pain where two guys get bitten by various bugs, lizards, snakes, etc. It's something I wouldn't do in a million years, but an interesting watch.

I would guess this is less about fame and more about money. I (would hope at least) assume they are being paid decent monies, and that's what really matters in todays world (sadly). I agree that I could never do that, but I'm definitely on board with the idea of doing something like that to collect more money than you ever would in an office or being a corporate bitch.

Actually they are following a scientist (Justin Schmidt), which they mention at the beginning of the show that tabulates a pain index for scientific study. But yeah, granted they are doing it for money, and the program is on the sensationalized side.
