Parasyte: The Grey: Season 1 Netflix--I thought maybe I could get into this series based on a manga, but in the end could not. It didn't help in that it was Korean using Korean actors, I don't know I find these films for the most part a bit offputting aiming at a younger audience. The story isn't all that original either sort of a mixture of Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Who Goes There (The Thing). The CG effects are okay, but overall just felt average, which seems to be the way a lot of these Netflix movies and series end up being. Netflix has a lot of original content, but most of them just seem mediocre.

Also found it odd they didn't really resolve the situation with Richard Lewis' girlfriend, though I suppose maybe they just wanted the implication
I actually liked they went minimal on the flashbacks. It left more room for new material, which combined with the fairly meta nature of the episode did leave me overall satisfied, although I wouldn't consider the finale a classic by any means. You could see this set up from like episode 2 so in terms of shock it was low (even with the twist), but overall I thought it was well done and will miss the show going forward.

    Fallout

Most anticipated show for me in a while having played and LOVED all the games. First 2 episodes did not disappoint! Very true to the game. Can't wait to dig back in.

Yeah, I'm interested because its Nolan (and Joy?) at the helm but i'm going to wait to see what reviews are generally like. But it's definitely on my list.

That's the one game I never got around to playing.

Where did you see the series? I will definitely check it out.

    Anyone watching Ripley?

I am 3 episodes in and I think its absolutely fantastic.
A very slow paced show but in this case this is an absolute advantage. It is shot completely in black and white and is a feast for the eye. Every shot is a superb photographic composition. Because of the slow pace these images have the time to sink in and impress. Acting is superb.

After 3 episodes I still do not have any clue where the plot is going and what motivated the main character. All I know is that there is 'something creepy' going on there. Cant wait to find out.

Amazon Prime. I don't know if you play games anymore, but if you do decide to ever play it, play Fallout New Vegas. I was never a rabid gamer, but I did love to immerse myself in a good RPG now and again. This is one of the best. Nothing beats all the Skyrim games though

Yeah, 4th episode of Fallout never played the game. I was a little iffy on episode #1 as it felt a bit campy or comic book-y, but got hooked with episode #2. Now on epi. #4. Fun so far.

Finished Episode 2 of Fallout. So far still engaged. Ep 3 will be make or break.

3 Body Problem Season One – Netflix: I had high hopes for this one as it was created by the same team who did “Game Of Thrones”. The series is based on a trilogy of books that I have not read, so knew nothing about this going into it. Overall, I enjoyed this series, especially the first 4 episodes when I had no clue what was going on. It bogged down a bit in the 2nd half as it started to focus more on people than plot, but still it kept my interest. The writing and acting are a bit hit and miss for me. The ending was left open, so hopefully there will be additional seasons. With Netflix nothing is ever guaranteed. 3.5 out of 5 stars for me.

Finished Fallout last night. Although it got lost during a few dull middle episodes with some side stories I wasn't as interested in, overall this was a lot of fun. Definitely on board for season 2

Supposed to be working on Season 2 now. I liked it a little more than you as it was above what we get with the usual SF, ie. brainy or cerebral. I didn't mind the human drama.

Yeah, me too. I haven't finished it yet, but almost there. It's gone in wacky directions which I've enjoyed as its unpredictable.

Ripley was excellent until the end, for me. Not plausible it could have played out like it did. No spoilers so can’t say more. Beautifully filmed in black and white.

Resident Alien Season 3 - Sci Fi / Hulu: Although I loved the initial season of this series, I thought season 2 was not at the same level. For the most part season 3 redeemed itself and I enjoyed the heck out of it. Of course, this show lives and dies with Alan Tudyk whom I still can’t believe has not been nominated for an Emmy for this role. He is consistently hilarious. Although I still don’t like all of the supporting characters, they were used better this season and in some cases allowed some character growth. Overall, this was another good season that ended with a cliffhanger. It will be interesting to see where they go with season 4 (assuming there is one).

Saw an ad for House of the Dragon. S2 is set to premiere June 16.

The 4th and final season of ST: Lower Decks is set to stream in the autumn. I was pretty ambivalent about starting this show but really glad I stuck with it. Bummed this will be the final season.

On a related note, ST: Strange New Worlds has been renewed for another season.

Fallout. I'm 5 or 6 episodes in and am enjoying it to a degree but haven't been wowed by it, yet. The most interesting sub-plot to me involves Norm (Lucy's bro) and Betty the Overseer (Leslie Uggams). Can't wait to see where this goes. Fave character is easily Lucy. I liked Maximus, at first, but now I find him somewhat tedious.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I felt about it, altho I might give it 3/5 stars. In fact, after the first few episodes, I didn't feel any kind of compulsion to continue watching. And while it felt like the science was legit, one thing happened near the end that had me rolling my eyes.

I do like looking at Jess Hong (Dr Jin Cheng), tho.

I just have the last episode left which I'll finish tomorrow. I really feel the character of Auggie is ridiculously miscast. Not only do I think that actress is incredibly one-note and her character annoying and highly unlikable, but are we to believe that this brilliant top scientist who is in charge of some immensely important functions looks like a 28-year-old beauty queen who constantly has a face full of makeup like she's going to a club? And who is dramatic and juvenile and bitchy, and who drinks and smokes? It's all a bit over the top and far-fetched, I think. It may not be utterly impossible, but it's certainly improbable. I like everyone else for the most part.

With minute changes to age and profession you have the character that made us nope straight out of Yellowstone.

Finished Fallout and thought it ended well. Will watch the next season.

Started S2 of Reacher. Forgot how much I liked this show. So far, I'm liking S2 more than S1.

Anyone with a subscription to Disney+? I cancelled mine 6+ months ago after finishing with all the Star Wars shows and have been waiting to hear if any of the new seasons have started yet, especially Andor. Anyone know anything?

Late 2024 or early 2025 for Andor. There will be only this season because this leads right up to the movie Rogue One.
