Over at Philo I started watching In Search of Darkness III. It was the only part of that series I could find. I'd heard about it off YT, and covers 80s horror films. A lot of obscure ones, some never making it to DVD. ISoDIII was four hours and so far pretty interesting. I jotted down a few titles: Next of Kin, Possession, Eyes of Fire, Devil Fetus, Hell of the Living Dead, etc. are covered. I believe you can find this series over on Shudder too.

Interesting to read about the second season on this site: https://deadline.com/2024/07/presume...al-1236007764/
Will it be a complete other story, based on other books from Turrow like The Burden Of Proof (1990), with different characters or will it be based on "Innocent" with partly the same characters?

This is an AppleTV series don’t look for it to be released to DVD.

As an 80's horror junkie, I backed all three of these. Got some posters, pins, cards and other nerdy things like my name in the credits of each bluray Great docs! Eyes Of Fire is a folk horror classic

Wonder if anyone has seen the Pete Rose doc that just dropped on Max? I always hated Rose and the whole Charlie Hustle jazz and, as a Met fan, really despised him after the '73 playoffs. The series is really well done with interviews with former players, announcers, writers, etc. I never agreed with the lifetime ban and think he deserves to be in the Hall.

If they ever do a remake of "Field of Dreams" Pete Rose is gonna' be coming out of that cornfield! Given how baseball has embraced gambling, it's the ultimate in hypocrisy to leave Rose out.

Thanks for the heads up. I have never felt much positive or negative about him, but will check out the doc.

Growing up an hour and a half from Cincinnati during the era of the Big Red Machine, Rose was one of our heroes. But as I got older and got to know him better through interviews, I couldn't care less about him.

    The Orville

Scott Grimes band played at a Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas was quoted as saying Season 4 production is scheduled to begin just after New Years.

So Season 4 could be coming in 2025, or maybe early 2026.

Started watching some of the new animated Batman on Amazon, it's fine, sort of 40s vibe, though they switch some of the characters for PC reasons I'd guess: African American Commissioner Gordon and daughter, female Penguin, etc.

That reminds me: anyone seen the ad for the new show on Max called Penguin? I'm not sure what to think of it.

It's a spinoff from the last Batman movie. If you hadn't seen that, it is tough to know what's going on.

I did not see it. I was wondering if it was more of a stand along like "Joker" was?

I did not watch it from beginning to end, but every time I happened to catch an episode I always thought it was funny.

Its not a continuous story arc but the episodes do build on each other.

Apparently, there's a second season of Bad Sisters coming in November on Apple+. This show was one of my favorite surprises in recent memory. An Irish dark comedy with a lot of twists.

Bad Monkey. A Carl Hiassin adaptation. I read the book , which I enjoyed. 2 episodes in , the first was missing the spark. #2 is an improvement , enough for me to continue.

I had been recommended it and finally got around to watching the first season of From on Prime. Very good! Big time LOST vibe. Good creepy atmosphere. It's an MGM+ series so if I want to continue to season two I have to subscribe or buy the season. I'm thinking about it because I enjoyed it so much. Anyone see this?

Yes, and I enjoyed it, too. Still waiting for season 3.

BTW, Klonk, MGM+ is only $7/mo. Season 3 is set to premiere Sep 22. So wait until the beginning of November, subscribe, binge S2 and S3, and then cancel.

So how did you watch it? Through cable, a streaming service, or the app?

I watch it with a Roku through my niece's cable subscription.

My sister has raved about it, but I don't get MGM+ and have not been willing to pay for it on Prime. Is the first season now free on Prime?

Yeah I could do that, but I want to watch it now Do you know if season 3 is the last season? I watched it with Prime app on my smart TV. It's $20 to buy season 2 so I'll just subscribe for a couple months.

Yeah Steve. You can watch season 1 for free with Prime. I'd check it out.
