New (and final) season of "What We Do In The Shadows" knocking it out of the park already.
I already have Paramount+, Spectrum and all the other platforms I can shake the Roku tree for. Not enough hours in the day!
Hey, if it kept your attention to the end...
I started watching a really stupid movie the other night. I didn't even get fifteen minutes in before I bailed. Evil Laugh is supposed to be an Eighties slasher cult classic, but for whom is beyond me. It was co-conceived by and stars Scott Baio's brother, Steve (Who!?), and, in her pre-porn years, Ashlyn Gere, who went under her real name Kim McKamy in those days. (I think she's the only reason the film got issued on Blu-ray.)
All boxes were ticked: BAD acting. BAD dialogue. BAD lensing. BAD lighting. BAD editing. It's amateur hour from the get-go. Actually, it's more like a student film.
In the beginning, Baio's character (who has to be shirtless because he just changed a tire) says he has to "drain the lizard" and runs all the way up to the top of a hill (jogging past numerous tall wild shrubs along the road, go figure). By sheer coincidence, there happens to be a biker and his gal laying on a blanket (fully clothed, in the full sun), and they get "rained on" because whatshisface has to whizz a few feet above them and somehow doesn't see them in time.
That's too stupid even for Troma.
I read this on Facebook and looked it up. It's true.
There's a theorem called "Sheldon Cooper's Theorem". It made its debut in episode 73 of The Big Bang Theory.
In the episode, Sheldon explains why 73 is the best number: it's the 21st prime number, and the reverse of 73, 37, is the 12th prime number, which is the reverse of 21. Even more interesting, 21 is the product of 7 and 3.
This idea caught the attention of experts like [Dartmouth mathematics professor emeritus Carl Pomerance and Morningside College mathematics professor Chris Spicer], who confirmed that 73 is the only known prime number with these unique traits.
To make it even more remarkable, 73 is a palindrome in binary (1001001), and every 37th Fibonacci number is a multiple of 73.
As if that weren’t enough, the episode was the 73rd of the series, Jim Parsons (who plays Sheldon) was born in 1973, and he was 37 years old when the episode aired.
From mathnasium.com:
Spicer said that after about 130 emails exchanged between the two mathematicians, they had figured out the proof.
UCLA physics professor David Saltzberg said he asked permission from Pomerance and Spicer to use their proof on the whiteboards in the background of the show.
Saltzberg said he forwarded the paper to the writers of the TV show, who said it was “amazing,” and decided to include it in the background as part of an episode.
As a reformed math major, I found this interesting.

Math major here, that's cool.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?
There are only 10 types of people in the World, those who understand binary and those that don't.
I'm one of the 212.
Okay, that is kerrayzee!
Mrs. Davis – Peacock: And now for something completely different. Mrs. Davis is a 2023 limited series on Peacock that concerns a nun in search of the holy grail…….and a whole bunch of other stuff. The plot takes place in a near future when an AI algorithm runs the world. Everyone is plugged into the algorithm and in theory at least it has made the world a better place with no war, famine, or other human stressors. The series was created by Damon Lindeloff from “Lost” fame and includes some great performances from Bettie Gilpin, Jake McDorman (Shameless), Margo Martindale (The Americans, others), Tom Wlaschiha (Game Of Thrones) and David Arquette. The plot is part mystery, part drama, and part comedy. The story takes many twists and turns and often you have no idea what is going on. I enjoyed this for the most part and thought it was very well done. If you are looking for something uniquely different, this limited series might be for you. I would be curious if anyone else has seen this what you thought of it?

I'm looking for a few suggestions for current tv shows (preferably on network tv or basic cable - no hbo or anything like that). I don't have an upgraded cable package and neither does my mother where I'm currently staying. I'm open to pretty much anything as long as it's not too boring.

Just finished the 3rd season of The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix. I think it was quite a bit better than 1&2. As with the first 2 the final episode ends with a lead in to season 4 , a cliffhanger if you will.
If any of you happen to be Bruce Springsteen fans I would recommend the new tour documentary on Hulu. It is very well done. My first time seeing him was on this tour and it was a fantastic show.
Only Murders In The Building Season 4 Hulu: Another enjoyable season with the comedy team of Short & Martin. Guest stars this year included Eugene Levy, Gus Galifianakis, Iva Longoria, and Molley Shannon. Some of the scenes with Levy, Galifianakis, Short and Martin were comedy gold. I don’t think everything in this show works, but I still find it fun that these old guys that I grew up with can still put together a quality show.
I find the new Matlock interesting and intriguing. It is NOT a rehashing of the original. Kathy Bates is NOT reprising the Andy Griffith role. I won't say anything more to avoid spoilers. I also like the new Zachary Quinto series Brilliant Minds. A departure from the typical medical drama.

Well, the thing is I never watched the original Matlock but maybe I'll check it out anyway. Plus I like Kathy Bates.
I used to watch L&O SVU, NCIS and Blue Bloods but after a while I got burned out on those shows. Maybe stuff kind of similar but not those I would like.

The Edge of Sleep
Over on Prime. Anybody check this out? Took a gamble and wound up burning through all six of its 20 minute episodes last night. I really dug it! Post-apocalyptic thriller (always a draw for me) where some dudes after working a late shift discover that everybody who went to sleep that night are now dead. Together, with some other survivors, the very odd journey begins to find out what the fuck is going on...all while staying awake. Not a big budget, but well done, well acted and definitely weird enough to keep my interest. Good stuff and hope it will continue on
