I finished the first season of Hanna last night. It was a fun, teen assassin coming of age story with lots of cat and mouse subplots. I noticed one gap in logic, but that's not unusual for me when it comes to stories like this. My mind shuts off and I just go along for the ride.

Some of the fight scenes were so-so, mainly when Hanna's involved. I figure that's due to the actress being young, small, etc, as well as the budget. I mean, there wasn't anything wrong with them, exactly, but when you compare them to stuff you see in big budget movies, there is definitely something lacking.

I also just discovered a show on Epix called Condor, based on the novel Six Days of the Condor and the movie Three Days of the Condor. This immediately piqued my interest as I thought both were excellent. It remains to be seen whether the show will be as good. There are two seasons worth of episodes, for 20 total, but it looks like Epix is releasing them weekly.

I thought it looked interesting but never got around to seeing it. Unfortunately, it's not on anything I get at the moment.

The wife and I started watching "Killing Eve" last night on demand (BBC America). We got two episodes in and found that On Demand is missing a whole bunch of episodes. We had the same thing with another show a while back. Hopefully we can find the rest of the shows on another service. Anyway........I enjoyed the first two episodes.

It's worth pursuing. Really good, quirky show.

I saw a talk show and Jodie (Villanelle) Comer was being interviewed. They were asking about her languages/accents and Jodie turned to one of the guests and did the Russian accent. They jumped in their seat. Whoever assembled the cast for Killing Eve hit it out of the park.

    She's really fantastic.

We're about halfway through Season 2 of The Boys. This show can be totally disturbing, but I can't stop watching. Antony Starr just nails the character of Homelander.

I saw on Netflix that Umbrella Academy has been renewed for another season.

Have you checked out some of these similar type shows on Netflix, yet, Scott?

    Locke & Key
    Warrior Nun
    Umbrella Academy

I think the first two are great and I'm really looking forward to the new seasons. Umbrella Academy is very good, too.

I actually thought Locke & Key was the weakest of those 3 but all good.

We've watched the first season of Umbrella Academy and really liked it. Locke & Key is on the list, but I've never heard of Warrior Nun. I'll have to check it out.

Late to the party as usual. Started binge watching Young Sheldon on HBOMax. The wife watches , rewatches ,rewatches ...... the always present Big Bang Theory. By association i've seen most of them. Its very well written , especially the first 3 seasons. IMO it gets progressivly more stale as it moves on from there. Young Sheldon , Im into season 3 , is well written , engaging , with a wider diversity of charactors , all likeable. It has avoided the one note feel of Big Bang. The Sheldon charactor in BB became that show's Fonzie. To much storyline revolves around the character . YS , so far avoids the trap. I've probably put to much thought into this , but for some reason the stragedy of keeping an ensemble show interesting , interests me.

I haven't seen Young Sheldon, but your comments about BBT ring true.

I think you may be generalizing. I watched the show from from the beginning (2007) and thought it got better during season 3 when Bernadette and Amy were introduced as recurring characters. They became main characters in season 4 and the show stayed strong for at least 2 more seasons.

As for Sheldon becoming BB's Fonzie, I agree. Of course, he was a very unique character. But I thought the funniest characters were Raj, Penny, and Bernadette. One of the things about that show I find intriguing is that I can't watch the reruns. Certain parts are still great, like when they made Penny Sheldon's antagonist. I loved how she'd fuck with him. He was the genius but she had street smarts and they could have mined a lot of jokes out of her getting the better of him. Why they mostly abandoned that, I don't know.

As for Young Sheldon, I don't find the show as likeable as BBT, as a whole, but I agree about the diversity of characters even tho I didn't find most of them funny. I used to not like the son, Georgie, but the last season or two they've developed him into a much more likeable character. The father has gotten a lot more likeable, too, but I'm beginning to find Sheldon and the mother annoying (which is kinda sad because I thought she was very likeable in the beginning and casting Zoe Perry to play her was a stroke of genius; in case you didn't know, her mother is Laurie Metcalf, who played Sheldon's mother on BBT). And adding Craig T Nelson to the cast was a big mistake, imo. I can't wait for him to be gone.

The best characters, imo, are Missy (the sister) and the grandmother (Annie Potts). And Georgie, too, now.

We stuck through the BBT to the bitter end, the last broadcast network series we watched. It definitely had its down seasons and Sheldon was a bit overdone at time, but dammit, that final episode was pretty redemptive for all concerned. Except Stuart. Stuart always gets left behind.

I feel Craig T. Nelson playing the dual role of Memaw's boyfriend, and Georgie's boss was a fairly good addition. That also open the door for Reba Mcentire playing his ex-wife, who dishes about him constantly with Memaw. See my earlier post about Reba and Annie's characters going to a casino.

My wife is the same way. She absolutely loves Big Bang Theory and watches the re-runs over and over. I think it is an ok show, but never really got into it. I actually like Young Sheldon better. I am not a regular watcher but have seen quite a few episodes and enjoy it. The show has a fantastic cast.

We watched this mini-series on HBO last night. It was a little slow moving, but very well done with an excellent cast.

If anyone remembers Tales From The Crypt on HBO back in the day and liked it, head on over to Shudder and watch the Creepshow series. It's a hell of a lot of mindless, late night fun.
