Started watching the HBO Max comedy series "Our Flag Means Death" tonight and really enjoying it. The show is very loosely based on the life of the “gentleman pirate” Steed Bonnet who was a true historical figure and stars Rhys Darby and Taika Waititi as Bonnet and Blackbeard. Really digging it so far.

Can't wait! Best show on TV right now IMO.

Finished season one of “Our Flag Means Death” last night (not sure if there will be a season 2 or not yet), and really enjoyed it. This somewhat historically based comedy is one of the more unique things I have seen on tv in the last few years with a great cast. I don't think I have seen it mentioned here before. This show won't be for everyone, but if you are looking for an offbeat amusing comedy that is atypical, you might dig this.

Quite an episode of The Last of Us last night. Terribly sad, was not the episode I was expecting but very well done. Didn't even recognize Frank, who was the hotel manager in the first season of The White Lotus.

Yeah...definitely not what I was expecting. Good episode though.

I wish I had the service that it will be showing on. Oh well, hopefully I will be able to catch it someday. Looks like a great cast.

I too thought it was very well done. At the same time, 99% of it didn't advance the overall narrative. I thought it was extraneous.

The wife and I binged watched “The Watcher” on Netflix tonight. It was ok, not great, and not terrible. The thing went in so many different directions and the questions answered and then taken back was used too much IMO. The cast was good for the most part with Mia Farrow and Jennifer Coolidge sticking out. I would probably give it a 3 out of 5.

Wow! The most recent ep of The Last Of Us completely clobbered us. Extraneous?? Fuck no. So far, this show is firing on all cylinders.

Add me to this group, as well. Not at all what I was expecting from this show. Great depth and development.

I have to admit it took some time to adjust to Ron Swanson playing that role

He was really good in Devs, which was also a more serious role, so I was a little more prepared.

I as well liked the episode but it did feel extraneous to me. Didn't really advance plot and the seemingly most important thing was the letter Joel received, which didnt need a whole episode dedicated to backstory to get the point of IMO. Also not sure why we needed that much Bil backstory given how the story ended. Maybe there will be more flashbacks to make it fit the story more.

But it was a very good episode that made me emotional which just shows the strength of the writing and acting.

I don't think you can evaluate whether it's extraneous without knowing the rest of the story.
