Robot Chicken was great for about 3 seasons and then became utterly unwatchable imho for some reason. It's like the whole writing staff got fired and replaced.
Absolutely love this show. The guy who plays Jimmy McGill/Saul is simply wonderful. The perfect combination of humor,competence, and sleaze.

CARNIVALE (2010)
1934 dustbowl mid-America.
An ordinary young man who hides his Jesus-like healing powers, collapses ,having just buried his mother in the dust; having his shack bulldozed down for a proposed highway.
A travelling carnival takes him on as labourer.
he carnival has its fare-share of preternatural powers - a dream/mind reader and a past/future-reader.
The midget boss of the carny changes his mind ,making the unusual/unpopular decision to move the carny down to the hell-hot south, not north.
There is an evangelist minister ,also with powers, that deems himself commanded by God to open a second church - this one for the immigrant poor.
Are the minister's / the carny's powers of the Devil, or God?
Interesting series.

I remember a friend telling me about a series of books called Left Behind about people left on Earth after the Rapture. Then recently I heard about a TV series called The Leftovers that sounded like a complete ripoff of it. Anyone watch this, and is it a ripoff?
Not sure that I totally understand the comparison, but I thought Fargo was awesome.
Lost is a great ride. The final season gets mixed feelings from fans, I still have mixed feelings about the end, but I will be interested to hear what you think when it is all done.
Bob Odenkerk has been around for a while. He used to be a writer on Saturday Night Live and had the HBO series "Mr. Show" for a few years which was pretty funny,
The show is called The Leftovers. Personally I like it. There are similarities to the Left Behind books, but those are told from a totally Christian point of view. The Leftoevers is not so clear just what is going on. Anyway, I dug it. Season 2 will be on next summer.

Never even heard of it. Speaking of the whole burn-out on forensic shows, the wife and I watch Bones... reasonably entertaining show that jumped the shark a season or 3 ago but we keep watching out of inertia. Another long running show that we're just catching up on is Castle. Nathan Fillion really carries the whole thing but the chemistry between all the actors is good.
"Jump The Shark". They should make a series titled thusly and KILL IT IMMEDIATELY.

If you think it's a "Fonzie-appreciation line", I guess its meaning is lost on you.
The actual stuff is fascinating. I can watch forensic shows for hours (and sometimes do). What does scorch my ass is when CSI franchise or Hawaii Five-O, or others:
-they show photography and video showing things that it cannot. If it is smaller than a pixel, you cannot "blow it up". Wide angle lenses, bad lighting, camera movement, etc. make this worse.
-the local, county and state police forces are rarely at odds with the FBI, since the FBI has one of the state of the art labs for forensics, departments full of criminal profilers and lots of useful databases. Not many law enforcement departments can afford a 1.5M$$ machine capable of measure the radiation signatures of microscopic particles. The FBI can.
-DNA and comparing fingerprints are rarely if ever overnight things. Especially DNA, as you first have to separate it from whatever other materials are around it and then replicate it. You also have to have something to compare them TO-namely, a suspect. Having DNA and fingerprints are great if you can match them to someone. If you don't have a suspect, you aren't going to find a match.
-DNA is not conclusive evidence. It is conclusive ONLY if it is some place it isn't supposed to be, such as suspect's DNA on duct tape binding a victim. Otherwise, it needs other evidence to help corroborate it.
-Police do not need motive. It helps in making the case, but means, opportunity and evidence are all that are needed.
-In fact, they have successfully tried murder cases without murder weapons or bodies.
-Police frequently use outside experts to examine evidence or provide insight. That is because if you find something such as spider webs at a crime scene, you want some insight from someone on how that can be used as evidence, if at all, and there are not too many noted etymologists on police forces. In fact, much of the crap you see forensics people doing on tv shows is usually outsourced to colleges, hobbyists known to police, trade associations, museums and other people who are experienced.
-Forensics is not just for murder.
-Banks-I don't care what people thinks of big banks and their procedures. They are subject to the same anti money laundering regulations smaller banks, casinos and other financial businesses are required to follow. No bank does not notice a 22 million dollar wire coming in. It raises hairy eyeballs whether it is a company credit union or a huge international bank because failure to notice it can result in huge fines, cease and desists orders and even the closure of a financial institution (see First Bank of Delaware). Nobody just ambles into a bank and walks out with a suitcase full of cash from their account like they are taking out the proceeds of their Christmas Club. Most banks do not even give cash, but certified checks.
-the "profiler" uses "psychopath". It is an outdated term and has been replaced with a variety of more specific terms such as "sociopath" and "narcissistic"
-The technicality of not reading Miranda rights getting a suspect the cops caught red handed getting a suspect off. The Miranda rights are for questioning. If they catch you stabbing the crap out of your wife, they do not need to question you in regards to stabbing your wife.
I also hate when they show the cops as stupid and the criminals being masterminds. Most detectives who are involved in crimes such as homicide are not the village idiots. They also tend to not be so impulsive as to have their badge snatched from them once a season. Most criminals are not the brightest bulbs in the box. If they were, they would not get caught doing all the stupid stuff they get jeered for by Leif Garrett and Tanya Harding. The real smart thieves are not trying to knock over a 7-11 with underpants on their heads-they are selling your identity to some cat in Russia.
