I dunno if I ever posted here, and can't be bothered to look back......
also, I am not really playing out these days, so don't buy much in the way of new gear, but here's what I've got:

Basses:
Tune Zii Six String Bass, Koa top, late 80's/early 90's--Made in Japan, my main axe.
Basses Loaded Six String built by Bill Merchant in the 80's. I yanked the frets. Needs a new neck, unfixable bowing....
Squier Affinity J bass.
Warwick Alien 6 string ABG

AMPS:
AMP BH 260, ancient but still sounds good.
Demeter Tube Preamp--the VTP whatever-it'scalled, an older model. The new ones have a skinnier profile.
TC Electronics Preamp/4 band Para EQ
SWR City or whatever it's called, it's a 35 watt bass amp with 1 10"
Eden 210 XLT cab

Zoom multieffects for Bass- I have two, a B3 and an older one, the BFX 708 or something like that.

A sitar, and a Tibetan Dramnyen (Lute-like thing).

I have sold or traded much more stuff.

Did Behringer support help, or did it just go away on its own? If it's the latter, that's still worrisome...

Well, I've experienced the tuning problem at several occasions, but it looks like I've discovered the solution, or what caused the problem. If I switch oscilator sync off, tuning works fine. If it's switched on autotune doesn't work. First thought the problem was perhaps the USB-connection (That problem still isn't solved. Tried everything Behringer suggested, exept connection the synthesizer to another computer, because I don't own another computer, exept an old Windows XP laptop used for my Akai Z4 sampler.) but that wasn't the problem. Though it might be the sun, but when I switched of oscilator sync while the synthesizer was running autotune, things worked.

It looks like you're really into 6 string basses.

Since the late 80's----after seeing John Patitucci and also Anthony Jackson, I've felt that was the instrument for me. Had my first one made in 1987, have not looked back. I have the cheap 4 string for certain situations.....but the Six is my thing.

Six is the perfect number for me, though I have no issues with whatever instruments people want to play. I can't imagine that many strings on a neck....

It's a six string with double octave strings. I knew someone who played such a beast. He also sang and played keyboards. Alas the singing suffered a bit.

Pretty crazy. I did mess about with a 12 string once (4 string with two doubled octaves)--interesting, but a special purpose instrument in my mind.....

I suppose it's pretty hard to play if you have to press 3 strings with one finger and one string is thicker than the other 2.

Yes, he did, and Dug P. if I recall correctly. I just don't find they fit my style. I do think they sound best played with a pick, FWIW.

Yeah, I'm not sure playing with your fingers would be a good idea. Perhaps with your nails flamingo-style?

Today some small things arrived: long patchcords, an instrument cable and cablebinders, so I can organise everything. Also a book on the MiniMoog arrived. In my storageroom I found several midi-cables, meaning I bought 2 midi-cables I didn't need.

The only purpose I can think of would be somebody trying to fill a dual role. Both a bass player, and a rhythm guitarist. Same with an 8 string bass, just to a lesser extent.

I have played a 12-string bass for over 20 years and it's an instrument of it's own. It's indeed a great one for a power trio, you can really fill the sound and don't have to play too many notes. It's also great for an acoustic duos to back up a guitar player and with effects and a little creativity it can do wonderful things, especially with delays and volume swells.
Getting a good sound takes a little effort and I used to use two amps to get a good overdriven sound without it getting too muddy or lose the low end. Nowadays I mix the clean sound with the overdrive on my pedal board so one amp is enough.
I play a 4 string most of the time and it's been a while since I used the 12-string on stage but I constantly use it for recording and getting ideas for riffs and stuff. It's a very inspiring instrument and not that hard to play at all if the setup is well done.

Very cool! 8 string and 12-string basses are very useful and very fun. I have a Schecter 8 string.
