Gotta say though, i would've been PISSED at that goal overturned from offsides. I still haven't seen one clear shot that definitively shows it was offsides. That was a game changer.

^ It was onsides originally, but the player moved it on to the blue line and that's when his teammates entered the zone.

Has there ever been a final before where each team won three straight?

    1942 for one.

    Edit: Twice, 1942 and 1945.

What are the odds on who will win? I saw serious Canadian journalist last Friday who was over the top with his enthusiasm.

I haven't watched enough NHL to assess a damn thing. From what I've seen so far, if we're (Florida) down by a couple goals early, we're done. And we'll be the Buffalo Bills of the NHL....

Florida is going to have to come out on fire and score early. Edmonton has serious momentum. I predict an Edmonton win.

What if it goes into overtime?!

All the speed and physicality of the Panthers seems to have evaporated. I can't really explain why.

At least they won't have to play that 3 on 3 bullshit.

The Stanley Cup playoffs ended and so thankfully there are no more incorrect picks from me! Another excellent, enjoyable series. Congrats to Florida, the 2024 Stanley Cup winners.

Somebody explain to me how Ottawa didn't just steal Boston's lunch money and give them a big wedgie.

yes, congrats panthers! Even though they tried to blow it, I do think they were the best team this year so no complaints about them raising the cup.

Congratulation to the Panthers. They played a hell of a series that many thought might be a clean sweep. The Oilers may have lost but I'll say this about that...

Taking the series to seven games after being down 3-0 is a great fight. They made the Panthers sweat and it made for a hell of a series. I'll bet that even Bettman enjoyed seeing a Canadian team fight back that hard - great for ratings!

Canada rallied around the Oilers. In Toronto, we went to the pub to watch the game last night and the place was PACKED! Standing room only, and everyone cheering for the Oilers. The place was so loud, you'd think it was the Leafs playing. And that scene was likely repeated in every sports bar and pub in the country. Too bad we couldn't cheer a bit more frequently than we did.

And how about Connor McDavid winning the Conn Smythe trophy? Only the 6th player on the losing team to win it, and the second skater (four of the preceding five were goalies). Not the Stanley Cup, but still not too shabby.

    Re: Esther's post

Absolutely - to even force a Game 7 in the Cup Final after a 3-0 deficit is monumental - and IMO - a testament to how fucking good a coach Knoblauch is at the player mgmt aspect, never minding the X/Os excellence.

    Re: McDavid Conn Smythe

Truly - while I understand it's supposed to be the whole of the playoffs - why are only finals participants considered? seriously - I'm no Ranger fan (spoiler alert) - Igor was as instrumental, if not more given goalie importance, in his team's run as McDavid who had only two games in the Finals that were "carry the team" efforts. Harshly, McDavid and Igor are both losers, just different types, and if non Cup Winners can be considered each and every time - Bettman and his fixers should consider the Conference Finals players as well.....

And while watching live, seeing the way Bettman was shaking while announcing the award- I knew it was McDavid as Conn Smythe....

Bobro would have won Conn Smythe without the Oilers comeback. That doesn't negate what he did before that, and game 7. Bobrovsky should have won the Conn Smythe.

I checked out after the game 5 loss on home ice. I'd only watch bits of the games. I really thought we were gonna lose game 7. The Oilers just looked like the better team. I went beddy bye when the score was 1-1 in the first period of game 7. I'd deal with it on Tuesday morning .
