He was just shocked because the Panthers crowd didn't give him the annual boo-ing that he rightfully deserves.

I'm watching the celebration on TV. A player is carrying the Cup and people are falling all over themselves to touch the cup. Is that THE CUP, or a replica for celebration purposes?

Who here would have predicted Edmonton would rally from a 3-0 deficit to come up to one goal in the 7th game. It was hardly a cakewalk for the Panthers.
What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it brings forth a sound (2112)

Paul Maurice is up on stage now. Really excited, and dropping F bombs like crazy, on our local stations. Insane.

    I really like that guy.

Some of the videos I've seen of that parade turn out are awful. Can't say I'm all that surprised, but I thought there would be a little more...

I am pretty sure that is the cup. If you ever get to see it up close, although they keep it polished, it is full of dents and scratches as it has been through many celebrations over the years. Unless something has changed, each player gets to take it home to their hometown in the summer for a day as well.

Lol. I'm cracking up about that. Seeing the players pour beer in the cup and drink out of it. There was footage of Evan Rodrigues carrying the cup over his head, shirtless, and some random fan pour a beer down Evan's throat. It looks like a heavy metal concert.

It's been raining all day down here. Not a great turnout.

You don't mind if I ask a dumb question? So this Cup is just one Cup that gets passed around?

Yes eventually each player gets to spend time with it bringing to their home state, country etc. It's well traveled

Also - when the bottom "band" on the cup runs out of room for champeens, the top band is taken off and sent to the Hockey Hall, all bands slide up one and a fresh blank inserted at the bottom

It was created in 1893. As MudShark mentioned when there is no more room a band is removed and a new one added, so it is modified, but the "cup" part of it is original. We have a minor league team here in Kalamazoo and the cup has been here several times on display. It looks a lot more beat up up close.

Just the negotiation rights so the Lightning had a jump on the competition before free agency on Monday. Looks like it worked--rumors are that they're signing Guentzel to a 7-8 year deal.

Red Wings re-sign Patrick Kane to a 1-year deal. Everyone here seems to be happy about that.

Sure, but couldn't any team have done that or did TB have some leg up on negotiation rights?
