Terrestrial television. Dont have/use any of those. And I can't recall ever getting streaming to look as good as broadcast TV at least consistently.

But I did not know they broadcasted every game on youtube. It's hard for me to watch sports on my computer but at least I now know its an option.

I tried, but couldn't get tickets last season. GO SCEPTRES!

To be fair, Canada cares more about hockey than the US.

But this is good to know. I was unaware that this was available on MSG. So thanks for the heads up.

Also to be fair, I should have said Ontario and not Canada. I think that some of those channels are able to air different things regionally, so I'm not confident that the games were shown across the country.

Out of curiosity, where? I can find nothing about this online, other than watching through free trials, or setting up a VPN and streaming from a server in another country. Not saying you're wrong, I just can't locate any information on how to do this.

Last year the PWHL YouTube channel broadcast every game live for free, at least in the US. The live recording of the full championship game is still there but the rest of the games have been condensed.

Ah, PWHL. I thought you meant NHL. My bad. Thanks for the clarification. That is great that they did that!

BTW, as an aside, there are six NHL teams that will be returning to linear broadcast TV for their local markets: Chicago, Dallas, Florida, Seattle, Vegas, and the Coyotes (are they officially the Utah Coyotes?). I think it's great they're doing this and that they'll get eyes on games they wouldn't have because of people's increasing reluctance to pay for RSN's on cable. Part of this is linked to the transition from ATSC 1.0 to ATSC 3.0 for broadcast, which will enable better picture and sound, and also interactive features, all free over the air (assuming you have a 3.0 enabled TV, or a converter box for your existing TV, and of course, an antenna). Some of these features may also be accessible through cable if the retransmission agreements can be agreed upon.

I CAN'T WAIT! I want to see some of the Isles kids in preseason. Plus the new pickups. Will be odd without Clutter and Martin although I agree with the move.

A well thought out strategy for the Gaudreau brothers memorial.

An enduring tribute strategy has been thoughtfully implemented to assure Flames fans that the legacy of the organic memorial will live on for years to come.

A wide range of items were placed in remembrance for both Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau ranging from jerseys, hockey sticks, flowers, purple sports drinks, and Skittles. Below is a list of items from the memorial and future dedication destinations.

Signs, messages, and chalk: The site has been precisely photographed including all chalk drawings, posters, signs, personal letters, and messages. The photographs will be provided to the Gaudreau family as an everlasting digital memory book from Flames fans.

Hockey Sticks: Hockey stick benches will be created that will be used in fundraising efforts for local charities. Plaques identifying the benches’ origins will include "In memory of Johnny & Matthew Gaudreau".

Skittles: The edible items that are no longer fit for human consumption will be counted and the Calgary Flames Foundation will make a commensurate financial contribution to the Calgary Food Bank.

Purple Sports Drinks: The plastic beverage containers will be emptied and donated to the KidSport Calgary recycling program. The program turns empties into sport opportunities for local kids in need, the access to sports.

Stuffed Toys: Toys made of cloth and cotton such as Teddy Bears will be donated to Parachutes for Pets, a charity supported by Mikael Backlund and Mackenzie Weegar. These will be used for the Lily and Dexter’ Legacy program - a groundbreaking program ensuring children in care can stay with their pets by providing essential support such as leashes, collars, vet care, vaccines, and licensing, created by the Backlund family.

Jerseys: The jerseys will be laundered and used to design blankets that will be donated to local charitable organizations.

Flowers: All organics will be collected and sent to compost. Soil from the flowers will be deposited in the earth at community park(s) around the city.

Miscellaneous Items: The remaining items will be reviewed following the completion of sorting.

The Calgary Flames sincerely appreciate the care and concern demonstrated by Flames fans and the entire community through this difficult period. The outpouring of love and support has been truly comforting.

Blueshirts open tonight in Pittsburgh. Fingers crossed they can keep up with the huge preseason hype and not fall flat on their faces.

I’m still in baseball mode but it’s great that hockey season is here! Rangers have a few months to figure out what they are doing with Shesterkin, especially since he rejected $11MM per. He’s gonna double his salary and how are they going to find the cap space?

The expectation in Detroit is that the Red Wings are a playoff level team. They missed it by one point last year, so this should be a year to move to a higher level.

They will work something out. Meanwhile, a 6-0 beatdown of Pitt was a nice way to start off the season

I get why they did it--not enough time to rebrand and take care of everything in time for the season. The new name is TBA and will be in place next fall.

Seriously - Tsar Bettman will let Utah do just about anything this year as thanks for saving his a$$ after propping up desert hockey for so long.

I heard the final 5 choices are.
    Hockey Club
    blizzard
    Venom
    Mammoth
    Yeti

If they could make jerseys with the utah HC on it, they could have made jerseys will anything on it. OR they could have just been the coyotes for another season.

Rebranding a pro franchise is way, WAY more than just printing jerseys--the legal steps alone involved in such a move can take months. I'm not sure they could keep the 'Yotes this year, given the deal that was made as part of the move. Personally I'd rather have HC than the 'Yotes if I was a fan.

I believe the 'Yotes and all of the teams records have stayed with Arizona. If they can get a new stadium within the next 5 years, they have been promised a new franchise. It does seem silly though to keep the records as the team was sold, it didn't fold.

Something similar happened in the National Lacrosse League in 2019. The owner of the Rochester Knighthawks relocated the team to Halifax. The Halifax team was rebranded the Halifax Thunderbirds. In the same year, Terry and Kim Pegula (owners of the Buffalo Bills, Sabres, Bandits and Rochester Americans) were awarded an expansion team for Rochester and purchased The Knighthawks name. There was an expansion draft for a brand new team in Rochester.

The championship records moved to Halifax with the team. Although the Knighthawks had been in the NLL since 1995, they were now considered an expansion team with a new start date of 2019 - even though no seasons or games were missed during the change.

The whole thing was really bizarre.

It was. Fans still can't figure out why the Knighthawks wasn't just sold to the Pegulas and an expansion team granted to Halifax.
