I think John Laroquette is the only former Night Court actor still alive.

^^ Marsha Warfield made an appearance in the finale of the most recent season of the reboot. She's very much alive.

RIP legendary mens college basketball coach Bobby Knight. Know for his patience, congeniality and all-around good nature, Knight won over 900 games and numerous post season tournament appearances including 3 NCAA championships, one NIT championship (otherwise known as 65th place) and one Olympic gold metal in 1976 during an era when Olympic teams were non-professional players and generally underachievers. Knight coached young men with a light hearted charm and wit and was often very cordial to players and non-players alike. Knight often cited former Ohio State football coach (and current resident of Hell) Woody Hayes as a role model regarding temperament and sportsmanship.

I once read a quote by Bobby where he said that when he dies, he wants to be buried face down so everyone can kiss his ass...... Truth.

OMFG that's priceless. I still have the vision of Bobby throwing chairs across the basketball court! And Woody's legendary sideline tackle. What great role models!

RIP Greg "Fingers" Taylor original and longtime member of Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band. I got to see Fingers live twice when he was playing with Living Soul back in the 00's. One of the best harmonica players I have ever witnessed.

Just wanted to repost the message I left on his FB page..

I think my favourites are his two fantastic ethereal mystical compositions on Mirage's 'Now You See It', the clear highlights of that album IMO. I was attending electronics college in London 20 odd years ago and going through a hard time personally. One lunch-break I miraculously found that rare Mirage LP along with Italian band Men of Lake's debut LP in a junk shop! I played both albums over and over and they really seemed to help me through, the music just had some kind of healing effect. I subsequently obtained the excellent 'Slaughter on Shaftesbury Ave'. RIP Brian, thank you for the music.

I remember Taylor from the two 80s Buffett shows I saw. JB gave Taylor a prominent solo spot to demonstrate his impressive playing and they did a song off a Taylor solo LP. "Some White People Can Dance" IIRC. RIP.

For me it was the other way arround: had Slaugter for a long time before I discovered Now You See It. If I remember correctly I ordered the latter from Brian personally (or after contacting him from a Discogs-seller).
    RIP

"Some White People" was probably the closest he came to a solo hit. I saw him with Buffett several times and then with Living Soul twice. He and Buffett had a falling out in the early 00's. The fact that he was replaced by a whole horn section in the Coral Reefer Band live band goes to show just how much of a role he played. Buffett and Fingers did eventually reconcile and Fingers would do occasional guest spots at live shows. Figers has struggled with Alzhiemers the last decade or so and had not performed in years.

Wow - the leader of the band. Big fan. Fairtale Of New York is excellent. This is really sad. Wonder what was the cause of death. My favs are If I Should Fall From With God and Rum, Sodomy & Lash.

He had some health problems. Not sure if they killed him. At least no direct cause of death is mentioned.

^ I’d been seeing pictures of him in a hospital bed on my Facebook feed recently. Ironically, the last one seemed to indicate that he was improving. The BBC obit says he had encephalitis.

Chad Allan, the original lead singer of The Guess Who, has passed away - announced in his online fan club.

    Obituary from the Vancouver Sun:

    Chad Allan O.M.
    1943-2023
It is with deep sorrow that we announce that Chad Allan passed away on November 21, 2023, at age 80. Chad is deeply loved by his wife, Christine, to whom he was devoted. They met in 1993 and wed in 1999. He was predeceased by his parents, Anna and William Kowbel. In 2015, Chad was inducted as a Member of the Order of Manitoba for his contribution to Canadian music. Chad was the part of the fabric of the Canadian music history having been the founding member and original lead singer of the iconic band, the Guess Who.
Born in Winnipeg, Chad was born Allan Kowbel and took his stage name, Chad Allan, in tribute to a favorite 1950s singer, Chad Mitchell. His first band was Allan and the Silvertones and then Chad Allan and the Expressions, which evolved into the Guess Who. Chad left the Guess Who in 1966 to attend college. In 1967, he hosted the weekly CBC TV music program, Let's Go. Songwriting put a fire in his belly and gave him energy for life. He played piano, guitar and accordion, and continued to perform until his stroke in 2017. We are grateful for the exceptional care he received later by the team of home care workers who supported him. A kind and humble man, Chad will be forever missed by his family and friends, knowing he has gone home to the Lord.

    Randy Bachman posted this:

I lost a friend and bandmate today. Chad Allan, who I started my musical career with has passed away. I'm grateful to have known and worked with him. He was a quiet, gentle soul with a peaceful voice. When We crossed over from Chad Allan & The Expressions to the Guess Who, we had a couple of months of overlap with him and Burton where the music and harmonies were amazing. He was the voice of Shakin' All Over as a cover hit in Canada but he wasn't made for life on the road and taught and sang locally instead.

    Burton Cummings posted this:

    Chad Allan (1943 - 2023)
Rest in peace, Chad you were an inspiration to all of us in bands in Winnipeg. I learned a lot from watching and listening to Chad. He was very talented and one of a kind. He will always be remembered.
