Never played poker in my life but I became addicted to watching WPT on PlutoTV during lockdown and Doyle was always my top guy he looked like a dear ole grandpa but he could shred some of those loudmouths like Helmuth to ribbons.
December 8th this year would have been Jim Morrison's 80th birthday
Pete Brown, lyricist for some of Cream's best-known songs, died on May 19.
We walked arm in arm with madness, and every little breeze whispered of the secret love we had for our disease (P. Blegvad)
^ Involved in some very good albums as a member of Piblokto! and Battered Ornaments, as well as other collaborations. He will be missed.
Very strange. Just the other day I was asking myself "Did Pete Brown just die?", only to discover that he was still among us and that I'd obviously confused his passing with those of Phil Ryan and Clive John, both of whom Brown at some stage collaborated with.
So not more. Brown gone.
He'll surely be missed. Those Pibloktos especially (and Thousands on a Raft in particular) remain pillars of the "proto" fundament. And some of his lyrics for Cream are still - erh... - commendable. Brown was a blues enthusiast in heart, of course.
"Improvisation is not an excuse for musical laziness" - Fred Frith
"[...] things that we never dreamed of doing in Crimson or in any band that I've been in," - Tony Levin speaking of SGM
IIRC, The Browns were not in the AFL, they were in the AAFC. They were absorbed into the NFL after their league folded. When the AFL merged with the NFL, the Browns moved to the AFC along with one other team. I think it was the Colts. But the Browns were well established in the NFL by then. Jim Brown played his whole pro career in the NFL.
Moe you're right. They were in the NFL in the 50s and 60s before the merger. The 49ers were in the AAFC too iirc.
RIP Irish actor Ray Stevenson, 58 years is far too young

Rolf Harris: Serial sex abuser and ex-entertainer dies aged 93. Probably not known much outside of the UK but he was a very well known artist, singer and general tv personality. His arrest came out of the investigations into Jimmy Saville and others working at the BBC.
