Both Bob Barker and Betty White didn't quite make it to the century mark.

He was closest to 100 without going over.

This one hurts me a lot, especially this morning: Brian McBride, half of ambient duo Stars of the Lid, at 53

Love Stars, and always quietly hoped they'd make a comeback at some point. RIP.

Jimmy Buffett was a talented guy and I enjoy many of his early songs. His lyrics were clever, compelling and unique. At his best he was a first-rate storyteller.

But for me the shtick has worn really thin. At a resort pool bar on Hilton Head a few years back, I lightheartedly complained to the bartender that I really didn't need to be subjected to Margaritaville every hour for an entire week. He answered "how do you think I feel. I'm here all season".

The last time I was on one of my Country binges I played a couple of his early albums on YT. Very Country sounding with steel guitar and all. This is his pre-Margarita era.

I stopped by my local record store today and "Margaritaville" was on the sound system. Are they playing it all day, or what?

Maybe I'll go to karaoke and do "Why Don't We Get Drunk and Screw", my favorite Jimmy Buffett tune.

I used to sing that one from time to time to girls in college. No one ever took me up on it...

I think the Dead Kennedy's were more accurate - "To Drunk To Fuck".
What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it brings forth a sound (2112)

I heard "Come Monday" at the bank. Not sure if someone picked it for today.

RIP Jimmy Buffet. A far better songwriter than I think many would give him credit for and wow, he played the music business game better than most anyone. I've never been even close to being a Parrothead but I appreciate his craft and his ability to deliver to his fanbase (and to milk them for every $ and then some).
I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart
