King Crimson- "Radical Action Live" CD/DVD Release August

I saw a release coming up at the end of August on the CDJapan and DiskUnion web site for a live 2CD, plus blu-ray called Radical Action. The blurb is as follows from the CDJapan site.

Live work release from King Crimson. Consists of two CDs and a Blu-ray. The CDs include live tracks taken from their world tour in 2015 produced by David Singleton under a supervision by Robert Fripp. Japanese edition features HQCD format with K2HD mastering (or more spec, subject to change). The Blu-ray mainly features their concert in Takamatsu (partially features one in Tokyo, subject to change). Spec: Stereo / Surround, 48kHz 24bit (subject to change). Pressed in Japan. Cardboard sleeve packaging.

The cover seems to be image.jpg

DGM is now listing this one in two editions:

http://shop.schizoidshop.com/radical...ion-p1602.aspx (normal edition, has Blu Ray)
http://shop.schizoidshop.com/radical...ion-p1603.aspx (special edition, has DVDs with same content as Blu Ray plus different packaging)
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

Finally, the product that I was hoping for. Fripp being Fripp, we first had to wait for lesser items from these tours to be released and their commercial potential exhausted before getting a chance to buy what everybody most wanted in the first place.

Is the DVD/BluRay an actual "film" or just audio? Appears that it, and the DVD's, contain actual video....?
"And this is the chorus.....or perhaps it's a bridge...."

That was unclear to me, too. But the DGM News page has more details, and specifies that the Blu-Ray content is video.

You're right that the wording is somewhat ambiguous. But the Burning Shed blurb mentions that the Blu-Ray disc has a "picture off mode" allowing the music to be heard independently, so I assume this does mean the DVDs/Blu-Ray do show the band filmed performing.

At least I hope it is as I've just pre-ordered the damn thing and that's clearly what I expect to get ! ;-)

"The set will be released to coincide with King Crimson’s most extensive European tour since 1974, with performances slated to include, for the first time ever, material from all seven of King Crimson’s 1969 – 1974 iconic studio albums".

This sentence has my unfractured attention.

It has mine too, but the implication, I hope, is that we not only get "Fracture" but "Cirkus", too.

Once again, these formats don't make much sense. If they sell the standard edition with 3cds and a BD, why not sell the deluxe edition with 3cds and a BD and no DVDs? Why force those who want the deluxe edition to buy both BD and DVDs, and why not offer a standard edition with DVDs? It's those who want a standard edition with DVDs who get hosed most because that's not an option.

I'll likely shell out for the deluxe and pay for the unnecessary DVDs.

I'm now really eager for either the DVD or BD format to die a quick death...

Did you get that backwards? Did you mean DVD with no Blu-Ray? If so, I'd agree. I'd prefer just DVD too, but we seem to be stuck with BD either way.

I'm still waiting for it to be released on a set of Edison cylinders with the images on View Master reels.

I just want the Blu-Ray, but we all know how it works, they prefer to give a video concert to encourage more people to buy instead of downloading. I'll buy it for sure anyway...

Right on....I would have assumed as well...but as we know, some of those anniversary editions have actual live video (or music videos, LOL) and some are just High Res audio remixes, etc. with no actual Video.

Nope, I meant since they have the standard with 3CD/BD, why not have the deluxe with 3CD/BD? I don't know why the deluxe has to include 3CD/2DVD/BD. The DVDs don't include anything the BDs don't include, so if you want the BD, the DVDs are useless yet you have to pay for them.

They should have made a 3 CD 2 DVD set and a 3 CD 1 Blu-ray set not this dumb combination of Blu-ray and DVD. I don't want the Blu-ray because my Blu-ray isn't in surround sound, but my DVD player is. At least three of a perfect pair and beat will be in a CD DVD format!
Oh well when the package comes out I'll have an extra Blu-ray that I'll sell the somebody for 10 bucks

Yup, I was happy I skipped the Orpheum package, since the Toronto package presented the +/- the same stuff/tour/set list, but on two discs, for roughly the same rice... Now that I fgot this, here commes the DVD, and if I'd known, I'd have waited for that instead

It's kind of the same gullible scam thing with that second disc on the Orpheum release

I can understand Steven Wilson logic on this,
Wanting to promote the blu ray in favour of the dvds (the BD only set is cheaper), not sure he thought people would be willing to shell out more money just for the extra pages on the booklet- you are the variation on the norm, not the norm
