In the end…..Quarterback Zack Terrill had his worst game of the season. He seemed to be seriously rattled during the game, which is the opposite of what he has been all season. Very uncharacteristic game for him. That interception in the 4th quarter was a back breaker. Wisconsin receiver Fumagalli was incredible. That one handed catch in the first quarter resulted in a touchdown in the end, and some of his catches later in the game were amazing. He was a game changer. I think if WMU had played more ball control offense they might have been more successful as they seemed to be able to run the ball against the Badgers, but after getting behind early that was tough to do. All season the Broncos have hardly ever turned the ball over, yet today they seemed to have a case of fumble-itus which really hurt them. Wisconsin proved to be the better team today, but this has been a once in a lifetime season for little old Kalamazoo. College game day coming to town is maybe one of the coolest experiences of my lifetime, and it has been a fun ride. We are all keeping our fingers crossed the PJ Fleck stays for a while. He is a very very special coach. 2017 we have the highest recruiting class in the MAC for the 5th year in a row, and option quarterback Tom Flacco (Joe’s brother) most likely being our starter. We open against USC in L.A. next September, so it ain’t going to get any easier, but we are ready to Row The Boat into 2017….

I'm not of the opinion that a conference's bowl record is a primary determinant of how good the conference is, but it's not totally insignificant either.

The big winner of the bowl season was the ACC, going 8-3 (so far), and with some high profile wins, including putting a team in the championship game.

The big loser was the Big 10, going 3-7 and with several high-profile losses.

Needless to say we are very disappointed here in Kalamazoo with Fleck going to the Gophers. 5 WMU 2017 recruits have already declared that they are going to follow him, and other commits are being pounced on by other schools (namely Northern Illinois, Iowa, and Syracuse). We need to find a new coach, and a good one, quick to try to stop the bleeding as soon as possible.

Their whole punt/kickoff philosophy is kinda puzzling to me as well. But wow, what a game!

    Best championship game ever.

If it's any consolation, if Fleck is the real deal they're be crying in Minnesota in a few years, too. The University of Minnesota is not where promising young coaches put down roots.

Oh, I have no doubt that it will not be his ultimate destination, assuming he is able to make the Gophers contenders, which I think he will.

Tim Lester named as new WMU football coach tonight. Not a household name around the country, but he is very well known here in Kalamazoo. He was a 4 year starting quarterback for WMU back in the late 90’s, and also served as quarterbacks coach for a few years in the 00’s. He has been a head coach at the Division III level taking Elmhurst to the quarterfinals of the playoffs. He has also served as assistant coach at Syracuse and most recently Purdue. His personality is pretty much the opposite of PJ Fleck, but he is very well liked here. Can he be a head coach at the FBS level? I guess we will find out. This is basically Lester’s dream job so if he is successful I would not expect him to bolt to another school like Fleck did which probably played a part in his hire.

Meanwhile, Jason Wilcox. Wisconsin's Defensive Coordinator, who replaced Dave Aranda, who went to LSU before this past season, leaves after only one year to be the head coach of the Cal Golden Bears. Can't blame him. We'll now have the 3rd DC in 3 seasons (hasn't hurt us YET).

I don’t normally watch college all-star games, but this afternoon’s East / West shrine game features WMU quarterback Zack Terrill facing off against CMU quarterback Cooper Rush. WMU and CMU are bitter rivals and the two have had parallel careers facing each other each other 5 times over the last few years. Both are projected 7th round draft picks. I am not sure how 2 quarterbacks who play at schools 2.5 hours from each other end up on different all-start teams, but it could be fun to watch.

Nice lineup of college games today. Miami vs. Bethune Cookman (well, whatever, should be a blowout), Florida vs. Michigan, Bama vs. Florida State.

Well, no one's started a college football thread this year, and if I talk college ball on the NFL thread people will roll their eyes and make snide remarks.

The mods should just remove the dates from the thread titles. We've already talked through 2 NBA seasons on a dated thread. Iirc, the NHL thread continues year-to-year.

Yep. I don't know why we just can't have general sports talk threads instead of year specific threads.

Part of me thinks, "thank God." Last night seemed like just a continuation of last season where the offense doesn't seem to know wtf to do and the D's secondary needs work.
