We got a pair of kids with my former neighbor down the street. His kid and another one who didn't say anything, so I had no idea who he was.
Turns out he was the son of my other neighbor, my former neighbor's brother. This was at about 4:30, nothing else after that.
    Sad!

No kids this year which didn't surprise me. Not the first year with no kids. I guess word got around that I was giving out Joe Biden hugs.

We actually had more kids than normal. About 25. My wife went to the local dollar store and bought a few dozen clear plastic gloves and filled each one. We then left them right near our steps with a note to take one. We stood out there all night, too, which was nice, although a bit cold. It worked out real well from a logistics standpoint. I just hope nobody got exposed anywhere, which is what really matters.

All along, I thought it was a bad idea to do it, but, in retrospect, I'm glad they did, so the kids can have their fun and some normalcy. I just hope that others took precautions.

Got held up with delayed trains coming back from Boston.
Missed the 'holiday' by a couple of hours.
There were a few costumed passengers and one or two in the stations.
Downtown DC was a ghost town at 9:30. A No-Fun zone.

I sent that photo out via text to a bunch of friends all over the country.....Everyone started responding.....Then I asked for everyone to send in Grandkids-in-costume photos....It turned into a virtual Party! We were all home passing out candy while texting and it was a fun way to pass the evening and share a few laughs. Yes, I was a bit concerned at first about distancing / non-critical contact but it did a WORLD of good for my (and my friends) mental health! Going out to day to disassemble the pipe & put the doorbell back together.....and start thinking about how the Christmas decorations will look.

I got a total of 26 kids....(now I got to sneak the 20 remaining Snickers bars onto my neighbors workbench)

There were a LOT of them in our town, almost the amount of a normal year. We took a big plastic cauldron, weighed it down with a large rock, and poured candy in. I didn't see any masks, no one keeping social distance, etc. Gee and you wonder why this fucking state is leading in COVID cases per capita.

My wife made up about 75 baggies with 4 small factory-wrapped candies in each. (The usual - Reeses, KitKats, etc.)

I watched from a dozen or so feet away to make sure each kid took just 1 baggie.

I had to fill another 15 or so baggies before the night was out.

That's a LOT of kids trick-or-treating! Most of them were accompanied by parents and it seemed that there would be 2 or 3 families of kids with 1 set of parents chaperoning them.

My kids brought the grandkids around to our place and they went trick-or-treating as well, but only visited people we know well, and who've been in out "safety bubble" from the beginning.

There were photos in my local news about a celebration in town yesterday. The pictures showed almost no one wearing a mask and no social distancing at all. Who knew that 30 years later, Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' would be the descriptive song of 2020.

Ok here goes. All people 30 and younger should be encouraged to have huge a kumbaya with no masks or distancing wgich cause an enormous infection fest. Within 2 weeks after all infected are quarantined, herd immunity would take over, and the pandemic would be over.

Just kidding, but locking down the young is the biggest mistake of all time. No claim of perfection, just relativistic good.

24/4000 have died in Maryland who were under 30. That’s 0.6%. Also said to be folks with severe underlying illnesses. MD stats are not that different except the state has a significant proportion of Hispanics and Blacks which are 8 times more like to be hospitalized if infected.

^ And these young people who are infected but don't die can't pass the virus on to the elderly and people with compromised immune systems? How does that work? And those who are infected but asymptomatic, how do they not turn into super spreaders with no lockdown?

Lockdown the older and vulnerable. The failure to do so, and the mismanagement of nursing homes has caused a huge proportion of the deaths. You are responsible for your own health, and if not you are relying on the unreliable. Darwin rules, sorry.

Blacks and Latinx are and have been generally less healthy, due to an historic lack of access to healthcare and nutritious food.

Young people have parents, which can be infected and suffer more serious consequences.
