Damn hurricane is 500 miles away from Miami and I've got no power. We had this feeder band come through that caused havoc today. Too old for this. No A/C, no sleep, no go worky tomorrow....

I hope the same. You have real storms, we have just heavy winds.

Just heard Scott Simon interview Herb Alpert this morning. What a great / humble / inspiring interview. The guy is 89yo and just released a new album! He also has in the works another Christmas Album....His first (1965) is my primary holiday go-to.

Go to NPR to stream the interview....it's just a fun few minutes of a humble guy that is a giant in the recording industry.

Just heard from my brother in St. Pete. this morning. Power, water & sewage all up again. Pretty fast service. He had 1" of water through his house. Stayed in his airstream alongside the house....high & dry. His daughters family 4 miles away had 4 FEET of water in their first floor. Just heard from my buddy in Blairsville, GA. He bugged out to North Carolina and is now trying to get back. Heard from a neighbor that the "hood survived.

I've never had any flooding in my part of the county but I've ridden a few hurricanes out in 40 years of living down here.

Brother updated yesterday afternoon.....Many houses on fire. I guess your supposed to trip you main circuit breaker Before your house floods.....you can imagine the outlet-submerged in salt water with the restoration of power. His house is 65 yo. Dunno if its been electrically updated (GCFI etc) Anyway, He's heard sirens and seen smoke all afternoon. Daughter 4 miles away had 6 Feet of water in the house....it blew in the garage door and sent that wall of water into the kitchen. They now have a dumpster in the driveway with all the belongings they bought last year after that hurricane. This AM he says folks are dumpster-diving in front of peoples homes. So, you have the trauma of riding through that storm, losing all the belongings (you didn't store high) and then scavengers routing through your garbage. It's Not Haiti, it's Saint Petersburg, FL

...just though of something....do you have to buy separate Hurricane insurance??? Or let your house catch fire to get coverage.....out West here a family friend went through an earthquake, the roof split open....and the roof A/C caught fire....he went out and put out the fire.....insurance adjuster said if he didn't put out the fire, he could get the roof repaired....they only paid for fire damage to the A/C....he had to pick up the dime for the roof......no earthquake insurance.

I'm getting a little concerned that my physical therapist might turn me in for self-harm.
I'm still partially paralyzed in the left arm and am progressing in PT. Last week I visited the E/R because I

sliced my left pinky with a kitchen knife....not deep enough for stitches but the upper pinky knuckle isn't working.....so going to see a hand specialist to see if i severed a tendon. Yesterday I cut the right index fingertip with a cheese grater! The real reason this is happening is I'm trying to adapt to life and using different methods. I'm left handed and its the left arm / hand that's taking a beating. Maybe I should just eat out until things heal and stay away from kitchen tools! I'm having a hell of a time typing this AM with all the band aids on my fingertips.

^^ When my dad split the end of a finger lengthwise with the table saw, he couldn't type for a while.

I saw the most incredible sight, Friday on the train to Downtown Phoenix. A young guy, who must have been in his late teens or early 20s...........reading the local newspaper. When a transit officer asked him for his fare, he whipped out his phone. And showed the fare he purchased on said phone.

Am scheduled for the dreaded colonoscopy this Friday. I start the preparation on Wednesday. It's not as bad as it used to be but still is no fun.

Ugh. Mine was a little over a year ago. I still cringe at that day of ravenous hunger, when all I could eat was bland broth, juice, and jell-o. Not to mention the outcome. Plus the stuff I had to drink two huge glasses of, which tasted like ten million orange-flavoured candies all at once. My wife was in the city, doing her final sommelier exam and then living it up with a celebration at a swank restaurant afterward, and I was miserable at home, watching a movie and vowing never to eat jell-o again.

As someone who lost both parents to cancer, I know that. But I still hated doing it.

Well .... I'll be getting the cataract surgery starting with my right eye next Monday; left eye two weeks later.
It's been building up for a few years - most frustrating part is not being able to see highway signs in the distance until much closer; trouble reading speed limit signs until close ("Is that 30, or 35?? Crap! It's 25"); similarly with street signs ("okay, Hamilton street is coming up on the right ... Is that it?? Crap! it is! Turn now!!!)

I had one three years ago and they want to do another. I think the doctor just thought I had a cute ass.

I drink the liquid without the flavor packets. Too much intense sweet fruit flavor in the packets for me. The plain liquid just tastes like what it probably is: antifreeze. It's not good plain, but I never threw it up. They can't make it enjoyable to drink, or everybody would want some.

I'm not so sure about that. Olestra as a fat substitute never caught on. People didn't like suddenly and unexpectedly s***ing their pants.

Sprung $100 for "sub tabs" (pills taken with water) instead of "prep." Worked great.

I looked this up and definitely looks easier and more palatable. I'm already scheduled for another in five years, so I'll ask about sub tabs.

On Friday, two small polyps (2 and 4 mm) were removed in there. I should get the pathology report in a couple weeks. Overall, the doctor said all looks good.

I had a couple small polyps removed three years ago and will be scheduled for another this year. I asked my doctor why three years instead of five and he asked if they removed anything. He said if they do they want to see you again in three years.
