“Remember, if it doesn't say "Cuneiform," it's not prog!” - THE Jed Levin
Any time any one speaks to me about any musical project, the one absolute given is "it will not make big money". [tip of the hat to HK]
"Death to false 'support the scene' prog!"
please add 'imo' wherever you like, to avoid offending those easily offended.

Gordon Haskell - "You've got to keep the groove in your head and play a load of bollocks instead"
I blame Wynton, what was the question?
There are only 10 types of people in the World, those who understand binary and those that don't.
I'm one of the 212.
That's such a tough question for so many reasons. I Guess the number one choice for me is "Loosefish Scapegrace" because of the immense journey it takes you on in 7+ minutes, plus it has the iconic 'sea shanty sing-along' that is such a beautiful aspect of Tim's music. Other choices might be "Big Ship" and "Home of Fadeless Splendour" as they also contain the sing-along that I'm talking about, but I can easily see the choices of "Roger", "RES", "Fiery Gun Hand", etc and could've easily chosen those.
My favorite Cardiacs tune remains "Dirty Boy", and I will go as far as to say its my favorite tune of all time. That is how highly regarded that tune is for me, and I think Sir Kavus is neck-n-neck on that one as well
Oh Pete - I think I'm beginning to love you brother!
I really can't explain how huge of a Sibelius fanatic I am, and what his music means to me, but its suffice to say that I regard both Tim and Jean on the same plateau, which is WAY above my head, out of view, and in the clouds somewhere. Two absolute beautiful geniuses that make my life more meaningful and richer, and that is not hyperbole.
I know this video has been posted here before ('prolly a few times), but I would like youse guys to check out a version of a tune written by Tim called "This Grounds Town" from his solo album Extra Special OceanLandWorld, and performed here by the wonderful Stars in Battledress (they themselves of course introduced to me on this very thread by Kavus). Anyway, its such an amazing tune and an amazing version, and given the circumstances of the party for Tim, etc it makes this version even extra-extra special.
It starts at roughly 55:00. Enjoy

Great set by The Monsoon Bassoon too (including a storming cover of No Bright Side).
As for "Circumstances", you realise this is from 2001 right? Tim's at the begining and you can see the back of his head throughout. Lovely video though.
One of my favourite of the live BBC sessions. Wired as fuck versions of three On Land songs and a nice interview. Hear Jim Speak!

A few random tunes that I'm REALLY into over the past few days/months/years:
"Fanny"
"This Ground's Town"
"Swimming with the Snake"
Appealing to Venus"
"Rat Mice Lice Time"
"Made All Up"
The same reason they didn't play the new stuff live. Tim didn't want badly recorded bootlegs/youtube videos creeping out before the material was presented as a finished product. That's what he said anyway.
Listening to the 2008 session now. Gen has an 'interesting' ending
Forgot what i came here to post:
Tim, Jon and Ginger Wildheart play to many confused Liverpudlians. The song intro's are superb!
Stellar setlist! Love those stripped-down arrangements - you can almost taste the tricalcium phosphate of the songs’ skeletons.
01 - Eden on the Air
02 - Red Fire
03 - The Duck & Roger the Horse
04 - Fairy Mary Mag
05 - Bodysbad
06 - Anything I Can't Eat
07 - Billion
08 - To Go off & Things
09 - Foundling
"Dem Glücklichen legt auch der Hahn ein Ei."
So...due in part to my dad giving me a Wayside gift card for my birthday, I just placed an order that will bring my Cardiacs collection pretty close to complete. This is what I got:
Cardiacs - Live
Cardiacs - The Special Garage Concerts
Cardiacs - Day Is Gone
Spratley's Japs - Pony
The Sea Nymphs
Mr. & Mrs. Smith & Mr. Drake
So, I'm stoked. Just wanted to say thank you again to all the people on here who inspired me to check out this crazy, crazy band. That is all. Also, if anyone knows where I should go after this in a few months...
*I also ordered the first Bent Knee album, BTW.

Also, I don't think I saw this posted, but I came across it today. This may be the best video on the internet:
The next tiny Bob Leith...
Sure its buried in this thread somewhere... I dont want to dig. I've been playing this at work today. Man... Tim is quite something - what was he? 19 when this was recorded. Wow.
