Let me know what you think of this one, I found it a radical departure from Chamber Rock into Free Jazz, I've never been able to get a liking for it.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

Recently came into some extra money and decided to spend a little on myself. I figured I purchased a new car for my wife, so I could spend a little on a few CD's for myself.

Shadowlands - Cautionary Tales Box Set - At the Rosfest 2002, I held the three Shadowlands CD's in my hands and chose one - the one I ultimately like the least.
Darryl Way - Myths, Legends & Tales - always love prog with an electric violin
Nathan Mahl - Justify - a prolific band that doesn't exist in my collection. Wanted to start somewhere
Alex Carpani - So close, So Far - again, see above
Airbag - Disconnect - purchased their last CD and it did nothing for me, but the clips I heard on this were spectacular. I hope I love it
Flamborough Head - Tales of Imperfection - I have been working backwards on their discography.
Cirrus Bay - Places Unseen - Loved their last couple
Sanguine Hum - Now We Have Light - Purhcased their last CD and loved it. Starting to work backwards
Rube Goldberg Machine - Fragile Times - loved the samples. Hope the album lives up to it.
Nice Beaver - The Time it Takes - Loved Oregon.
Trion - Funfair Fantasy - was given Tortoise as a gift and loved it. Moving on to check out the rest.
Daryl Hall - Sacred Songs - Sad admission, I like many of their songs from Abandoned Luncheonette to 82. Thought this might be good. First listen is a disappointment.
Karmacanic - Dot - Own all of theirs, and really enjoy this one.
Arc Light Sessions - Perchance to a Dream - have listened to them on-line and have enjoyed them. Hoped they would start to distribute in CD format. Enjoy it quite a bit.
Cowsills - Captain Sad and His Ship of Fools - First, I am from Rhode Island, Second, listen to the song "Who can Teach a Songbird How to Sing" before you say anything

I dig it.These guys can play.It reminds me of music made by cats from the AACM, the Chicago(later opened a branch in NYC) collective of musicians who were re-structuralists of the new thing in jazz.Anthony Braxton,Leo Smith,Muhal Richard Abrams, etal. This sounds like some early Leo Smith records i owned.I wish they had used a good double bass player on these sessions, but over all, this one's a keeper.I much prefer it to Pictures.

The Jelly Jam - Profit - man does this initially sparse-sounding collection of songs grow on me and reveal hidden layers with repeated listens. I love it.

Kansas - The Prelude Implicit - just arrived today! About to play it in 3, 2, 1....

Riechmann is interesting. When I first heard the album and knew he had died, I thought he was knowing he would die, while making the album, but considering the way he died, this couldn't be.
