wasn't even thinking about that, just thought it'd be fun to change things up a bit! But I'm not mad about that side benefit either

Speaking of which, since Arturia dropped the upgrade price of the V collection to $99, I went ahead and upgraded. (Now just waiting on NI to do the same, $399 upgrade price on the Ultimate is too much).
The CP70 is nice. I think my Prominy CP70 is probably better though. And since I have so many Mini plugs (and a real Vger) I never really did much with theirs. But, I did try it out tonight and it does sound very nice. Haven't tried any of the Augs yet though.
Cyber Sunday just put my future finances in a rather deep hole. I needed a laptop since the last one I bought was in 2007 and don't know how long ago it got tossed. I figured I better buy now before the orange tariff goblin stirkes with head up arse. That said, I also decided to build a new DAW PC. All that and a few other Cyber D-Day purchases should leave me leasing my soul for the better part of a 0% finance year. Living in debt....Proud to be an Amer-kin!

Oh wow, congrats on the new DAW machine!

I was actually pretty impressed with the Mini V4 too, especially with the MPE and polyphonic capabilities. Some really great sounds, stuff that's pretty different than what you'd expect from a Mini!

I didn't go too overboard with the weekend sales...for kicks I did the Cherry Audio Pick 3 and filled a few holes. I was hoping for a sale on the Legend HZ, but no such luck...so I bought it anyway. I know it's technically a Minimoog emulation but holy cow it's amazing. Twice the oscillators, FX, a fixed filter bank, MPE capabilities and presets created with Zimmer, it's pretty damned amazing. The low end is unreal.
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

I keep quiet on the buying front. Even with free downloads, though yesterday I found another VST with a free version. It's named Vital and it seems to be a graphic wavetable synthesizer.
Full Buckett has a broken MiniMoog and a copy of a Sequential Prophet drumcomputer.

I like the new thread title. The previous one got old pretty fast and at the end of the day, it didn't really represent the atmosphere of this discussion. Synth Lovers United is way better.

I agree All credit to Renate for inspiring the new name!

Ah, I do remember those days when a new machine could be days/weeks/months in the making while hunting down exactly the right components, etc.. It was often tedious but man, the results were rewarding.

These days my life has multiple "hubs" so the laptop makes it vastly easier to bring my studio with me, but I do sometimes miss those good old DIY days.

Nice! I found some interesting freebies as well, thanks to a Facebook advertisement of all things! These folks appear to be emulating the free Labs concept that Spitfire had with a series of free tools called Roots (they run via the NI Kontakt free player or paid version):

I particularly found myself enjoying the Dust Piano one.

These days you can go on Newegg's site and it's easy to pick the right components to build your own computer.

Over the weekend I pulled the trigger on a UA plugin package which I've installed, but didn't try out yet - I spent quite a while updating various software instead.

I also ordered a new recording interface (Audient EVO 16) and now I need to sell some gear. Anyone need an Eventide H9 Max?

I owe Micro Center a lot of money!!! It's extra tough when they're only 10 minutes away.

So, aside from the precognitive economic view of things, there was another reason to upgrade now. Since I built my last machine 4 years ago, I've had horrible luck with the UAD2 quad wanting to make an appearance in my system. It's missing much more than not. Didn't happen on the previous system. UAudio doesn't give a rats ass about a PC if it doesn't have a picture of a road apple on the side, so I never contacted them. I tried both MSI and ASRock mobos with the same result. So now I've gone back to ASUS, which is kind of a testing standard, so my fingers are crossed. Still waiting on a couple parts I had to order elsewhere. Should be able to at least build it this weekend.

Now if it also would produce MiniMoog sounds.

I can't find all of them right now but there are companies who basically built fully-functional FX stompboxes and desktop devices using Legos for the form factor. It's both obvious and a bit brilliant, really...

Those intersections always are trouble (in a good way). One has two reasons to lust after the Shiny Object because those overlapping nerdiness longings trigger multiple layers of “I want it.” They work together…it is not additive, it is multiplication!

Today I discovered some weird problems with my Behringer MS-5. It doesn't seem to receive note-off information from an external midi-keyboard. Besides with the control voltages the gate signal doesn't seem to stop and the control voltage doesn't change no matter what key you press. I connected my old Roland to the Behinger and it keeps producing a low note after I've released the key on the Behringer keyboard. If I press a key on the Behringer keyboard, I get a higher note, but it's always the same note. I also connected the controlvoltages from my Arturia Keystep with my Roland and that works the way it should. In the past things with the Behringer also worked the way they should.

Weirdly enough today the problem seems to have disappeared.
Now I'm thinking about some things I want to do with my new composition. Wondering if I'm going to use only my old Roland synthesizer for the first synthesizerpart, instead of combining the Behringer and the Roland. And then there is the question if I'm going to use the Keystep to connect the Roland to the computer for the first part. I'm going to record the Roland in Cubase as a soundfile, so I can use more effects.
