Oh yeah, I have that one as well and rather like it! I got the new one above too....nothing earth shattering but still kind of fun.
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

Apropos of nothing in particular, my recent clonewheel demo inspired me to do another demo of my Maxi-Korg 800DV. I figured this was as good a place as any to share!

Anybody else here have one of these? Such a cool synth! It's easily the rarest and weirdest thing in my collection (if you don't count the behemoth Yamaha Electones I've been obsessed with lately).

Is there a cap missing? It's mentioned in Synth Gems one, with the MiniKorg 700.

Yeah afraid so.....it was pretty beat up when I found it, missing a couple of keys, and the key tracking was WAY off (and still is a bit weird). I'm entirely sure if the Transpose switches on the upper right work either.....I tried messing with them and they didn't seem to do anything. Still, can't believe how good this sounds!

I had one of these in the late 70s. It was my first synthesizer and I loved it. I just picked up one of the reissue MiniKorg 700 FS synths. I got it just because I am familiar with the user interface from my MaxiKorg days. I have a couple of other hardware synths that I mostly tweak presets on, primarily because I find their UIs confusing. The MaxiKorg is way better, but this one has the same single oscillator sound that I remember. It doesn't have the narrow pulse waveform selection and I noticed your Bright switch has a middle position which the MiniKorg does not. But the MiniKorg has MIDI and Preset storage which are requirements for me as I'm primarily a guitar player. A nice bonus was Korg included the MiniKorg 700 VST with the purchase. The VST is polyphonic and the CC mapping is the same for the hardware and VST so you can program the VST from the MiniKorg. Now if I could only figure out a way to move presets back and forth. Thanks for posting this, definitely nostalgic for me.

Well, I'll keep posting those reincarnations as there is a good value in the slow but steady progress towards better emulations - though in some cases there clones are asymptotically close to the original. The CS-80 is not the same fav as the Prophet 5 and Oberheim OBX but interesting. The Arturia version is quite good, though generally the quality of their plugins varies alot.

As for B3 emulations, I use Hammonds a lot and - maybe my fav keyboard instrument besides the grand piano. I stumbled on GG-Audio's Blue 3 a few years ago and it was a revelation, compared to the NI, Arturia and Logic versions. It was really like that I installed it, hit the keyboard and went "what?" turning my head to look for the Leslie. It also sits very well in the "room" with the band. The other emulations collects digital dust. I hope Cherry will treat Blue 3 with respect!

Ooooooh....interesting. My knowledge of the Soviet era synths is mostly the Polivoks....but if it IS a Polivoks I'm so in

In unrelated news...looks like that Loom (MPE device) that I backed on Kickstarter is in very real danger of failing to actually appear. Company is in dire straits and saying they made need to declare bankruptcy if they can't find a solution.

Kickstarters aren't preorders so the risk is always there, still kind of a drag though! It's a cool concept, hopefully they'll find some way to make it a reality.

The only Sovjet synthesizer in Synth Gems 1 is the Muron Aelita.

It's funny the sometimes Cherry Audio doesn't anounce something, which suddenly apears and at other moment they make an introduction video announcing some new product, with only some hints, letting the people guess.

The Polivoks is available as a new hardware version.

I actually have one of these: https://www.eltamusic.com/polivoks-mini

It's lovely, but just one tweakable oscillator (plus a sub) so there's no crossmod capabilities, etc.. The filter IS pretty screamy. I'll be happy to get a Cherry Audio software version!

It is interesting that the Wurly and Blue didn't get announcements....the synths get all the fancy treatment, I guess!

Well, looking forward to getting my MS-5 and a bunch of other stuff. i ordered everything on Monday and because the Behringer MS-5 was not in store and it would be available in a couple of weeks, I asked to get the thins in seperate packages to be send when available. Then it appeared the keyboardstand had gone out of stock and it would take some days before it was available. Today I got the message 2 packages would be on their way. The first package contained everything, exept the keyboardstand, but including the Behringer MS-5 and the other package contained the keyboardstand.

Congratulations! I have to check out the model (might be a mistake since I can't afford any synth-GAS at the moment).

    I could afford this 'though:20240924_204816.jpg

It's not a synth but a home keyboard or whatever you want to call it. Cheesy drum rhythms which can sound very interesting when routed through FX pedals and another synth's filter section. It also has a very good string machine (ARP Solina, Elka Rhapsody etc.) kinda sound with an additional chorus effect (slow, fast and a combination of both) so it will get usage for sure.

I used the string sound for this, routed it through the Wasp synth. Other sounds were made with guitars and bass through the Wasp and pedals.

If the soundcloud link doesn't work (bl**dy app...) same music excerpt can be heard on this:

Sometimes the size of synthesizermanuals is a bit weird I think.
The manual of my first synthesizer a Roland System 100 model 101 is 78 pages and has a seperate booklet with patches
The manual of the Roland SH-5 (which is what Behringer cloned with the MS-5) is 18 pages and includes some patches
The manual of the Roland SH-7, a rare model which is a bit different from the SH-5 is 40 pages
All synthesizers are more or less released around the same time. the Model 101 has one VCO, one envelope generator, one LFO and a filter.
The SH-5 has 2 VCOs and 2 filters
The SH-7 seems to be more or less the same
So I think there is not much connection between the possibilities of the synthesizer and the size of the manual.
