Feedback just received from the ISP:

I complained about the slow performance yesterday.

Today, they took the system down for a short time while they reconfigured the database parameters to optimize the system's performance.

It would have been nice if they'd TOLD US in advance!

Still - it should all be okay now...
    Regards,

    Duncan

IT is my day job and that kind of "service" is very common from vendors

Me too. Might need to run a virus scan on PE's servers.

Or maybe that's just the error you get when the ISP is rebooting the service?

They run virus scans regularly, and email the reports to me weekly.

This was the error we got in the hour or so while the ISP took the database offline, reconfig'd the DB parameters, and brought it up again.

This happened to me, too, a couple of times. I tried emailing the only mod whose address I had, but the mailer demon bounced it back as undeliverable. Admittedly, he could have changed his address, but I am left without explanation for why my account could be suspended without cause and without me ever getting to see the PE opening page. As far as slow, lots of sites have been slow for me lately, including this one, even though I recently ran all my anti-virus/malware programs.

It's the site not you, and the suspension message related to the site not you. I pinged Duncan when it first happened to me.

I kept getting a message saying:

This account has been suspended. Nobody likes you. Get a life!

Obviously, I did nothing of the sort.

Fine for me. Maybe it only affects people who are not true prog fans?
