I also think that teams who play Dallas say "stop Zeke" and make Dak beat us. The Skins put 8 in the box and sometimes 9 because of that. Maybe this will open things up a bit.
Gallup and Austin are speedster/deep threats and Beasley is the slot man. I just do not see Cooper doing anything our receivers aren't already capable of...
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

You could have had Earl Thomas for the same pick.

I was watching the game in between bands at Progtoberfest this weekend. I think Johnson is the real deal and has the potential to be the best Lions running back in many years. It has been a while since we have had any kind of a running game.

I read somewhere (I think NFL.com) that the eagles were offering a second rounder.

Austin was a nice experiment, but he’s not much more than a gimmick player and a poor route runner. Hurns has been underwhelming in the first half. Beasley will remain where he is. Gallup is still too raw and young to be of consistent help to Dak, but there is potential. I would have preferred Calvin Ridley, but such is life.

My feeling is to see how it plays out through November before judging it, but I understand the reservations.

Which would have been a bigger overpay. Considering we need much more help on offense, this was a better choice. That said, I would have drafted Ridley in April instead of Vander Esch (not to take away from that kid’s good season).

Did not see that. Cooper never panned out, primarily because he is always hurt but also because he drops too many balls. Chuckie continues to clean house of all Mackenzie top picks. Don't be surprised if Carr gets traded too...

Finally managed to win my sports loto ticket this weekend. I had the following, which paid 14 to 1 odd so my $5 turned into $70

    Panthers + 8.5
    Browns +7.5
    Patriots +3.5
    Redskins +1.5
    Rams -9.5
    Chiefs -6.5

Raider now have 3 first round picks in 2019, and 2 first round picks in 2020. They also have 74 million cap space in 2019. Gruden is dismantling, he build back up...

^ Speaking of which, does anyone know of any sports betting sites that have been set up in the USA since the Supreme Court ruling? I'll be dead if I have to wait on our legislature to do something.

Rumors have the Browns interested in Garreon Conley. They won't give up a 1 for him, but something could happen.

After all of the outrage from the Mack trade, now the narrative is that they signed Gruden to that 10-year deal to do exactly what he's doing - get rid of the expensive contracts and rebuild through the draft. Now he's being praised.

They have it in New Jersey, but I don't know the specifics. Living near the Jersey border, I see/hear commercials for it constantly now.

A six-teamer? Sweet! I never hit for six teams.

I don't think the Patriots were +3.5, though...

Those were alternate odds. Loto Quebec sets its own odds based on Vegas odds. You can then hedge your bet a little by playing their alternate "safer" odds. The first 3 picks I made were the "safer" odds that paid on average about 1.4 to 1. The last 3 were the regular odds that pay around 1.8 to 1. My exact odds totalled 13.67 to 1. My $5 bet turned into $68.35 exactly. I just rounded up the number in my initial post for brevity.

    .
I liked the Mack deal once I digested it ... two first round picks? Raiders weren't that good with him. Bears are only 3-3 with him. Yes he's an impact player but not a skills player so there is only so much he can do to help the team win. The moment that deal was made I figured Gruden was taking the larger view and basically throwing this season away. They want a rejuvenated team in Vegas. Now, you have to make all those picks count.

I would think the reservation casinos would be jumping on the sports betting - I doubt if they have to wait for a state legislature to figure things out

When you figure I play $5 a week, and I'll bet maybe 20 weeks in the season, I've already made back $68 of the $100 I will play. One more winning week and I am in the black. I just use spare change that I toss in a box anyway (in Canada change includes $1 and $2 coins so it adds up in a hurry).

I'm hoping an online betting site emerges. Having it at the casinos in Jersey does me no good. Same with the Indian reservations. Or are the offshore sites like Bovada now considered legal?

Up here it's available at any convenience store. It's unbelievable how many different aspects of the game you can bet on: straight up, against various spreads, over/under, individual player stats during a game, etc... I stick with the spread and/or the over/under. It's just to add a little zing to a game involving teams that mean little to me otherwise. You have to bet with your head though. I loathe the Chiefs and the Pats, but I tend to bet on them most weeks.

Not sure about the off-shore stuff, but there's plenty of legal online betting. But you have to be in a state that allows it if you want to place a bet. So, I can drive right across the border and place a bet via my phone (from what I understand), but I can't do it from this side of the river.

I sure hope all those Raiders fans living in Vegas appreciate what Gruden is doing for them. Not so good of a deal for the Oakland fans and season ticket holders though.

It's somewhat reminiscent of what Kroenke did to the St. Louis Rams once he took control of the ownership from the Frontiere family. He made very little effort to build back a winner (after the Greatest Show on Turf years) and stuck with a terrible coach in Mr .500 Jeff Fisher, and only until they snake oiled out of their stadium lease commitment and bolted for La La Land did they jettison Fisher and completely change their philosophy and start really trying to build a winner because they want to reel in fans to buy those expensive PSLs and suites in the future LA stadium. All done with Goodell's and Jerry Jones' seal of approval of course.

Just win in a few years, baby!

The Cooper trade is a good one for the Raiders. He has been 20% flashy and 80% frustrating since he came into the league. I would have been happy with the Eagles 2nd round offer, so to get a potential top 20 pick for him? No brainer...
