VERY much a stalwart Skin Graft-label kinda sound; less immediately zeuhl and more lo-fi noise proper. Worthwhile at large (if you dig that sort of thing), but really not the same deal.
They move into more proclaimed "progressive" terrain with Great Sage, but it's not as meticulously assembled as the material on later records. Relatively interesting for what it is, though!
"Improvisation is not an excuse for musical laziness" - Fred Frith
"[...] things that we never dreamed of doing in Crimson or in any band that I've been in," - Tony Levin speaking of SGM
There's a book I read a while back called Stir it Up that has a chapter on Curlew.

If you do not have this album yet its about time.
Sadly, I thought Curlew were mostly just forgotten now....
... and I think George sort of feels the same way....[/QUOTE]
'Live in Berlin' is a fabulous record. After wearing my original vinyl copy, I bought a CD version. I still play it and enjoy it. Besides Cartwright and Cora, Wayne Horvitz' appearance with the band in this live setting is a major asset for my high rating.
I decide to jump for the Ahvak record. I figure I can spare another five bucks. Was this particular weekend deal available yesterday? I didn't think about it when I was putting together my shopping list for yesterday's "all profits go to the artists" sale. Oh well.
See my post in the Bandcamp thread wherein I confess to being a big dummy. Oh, well indeed.
Ahvak slays. Top 40 Cuneiform for me. Worth $5 of yer hard-earned for sure.

Glad to have it: this is my fifth Muffins and I also own "Manna/Mirage, Chronometers, <185> and Double Negative".
Great music IMO!
