A Day at the Beach--found on YT, written by Roman Polanski. Set in a rundown Dutch seaside resort, it depicts a day in the life of Bernie, a self-destructive alcoholic, as he takes Winnie, a young girl with a leg brace, to the resort despite constant rain. Though Winnie calls Bernie "uncle", he is likely her biological father. Over the course of the day, they encounter various people whom Bernie alternately berates and scams for alcohol, while Winnie is often left alone to fend for herself. It was sort of interesting, tho I found Bernie and his way of speech off putting.
Twister never saw it back in the day. Sort of crowd pleaser I guess, big stars, kind of dumb though the way it's portrayed the storm chasers running right up to tornadoes. I thought it was middling.
The First Omen--I thought it was okay and at times interesting though a bit of a slow burn. There are some neat moments, but I think really it really depends on if you like horror, The Omen as a movie/ series, or the main character Nell Tiger Free as an actor. I like all three although I wouldn't say The First Omen is a classic. It had its moments, and held my interesting, though I could sense where it was heading toward the end. Hulu

The Bikeriders: Back in the late 60’s and early 70’s photographer Danny Lyon spent several years with the Outlaws Motorcycle Club near Chicago and documented everything in photographs and interviews. He published a well-known book called “The Bikeriders” on which this film is based. The cast is stellar with Tom Hardey, Austin Butler, Jody Comer, Norman Reidus, Michael Shannon, Boyd Holbrooke, Damon Herriman, and other well-known names. The story is a bit inconsistent. Parts of the film move rather slowly and there are a few plot holes that bothered me a bit. Overall, a good film, but I expected it to be a bit better.

Perfect Days on Hulu about a guy in Tokyo that cleans bathrooms. Liked it quite a bit.

Late Night with the Devil--Philo, I thought it was okay. It had a nostalgia vibe to it, but wasn't that impressed.
Recent viewings:
Dodge City (1939) - a very good old western, well paced and with an actual story. Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland. Came around on the broadcast TV.
Candy (1968) - I had never seen this star-studded '68 classic. I liked it. Beautiful Swedish star Ewa Aulin later gave up on acting because the roles being offered by Hollywood weren't serious enough for a thinking artist. Can't blame her, but it was our loss. Free streaming, Tubi and elsewhere.
Drive Angry (2011) - Nicolas Cage as a man who escapes from hell to get revenge on the gang who killed his daughter and kidnapped his granddaughter. Not great, but enough action and fun to keep you watching. Tubi.
It was fairly interesting. A bit goofy and definitely of its time, but I found it worth a watch.

I really liked that one. Maybe the ending was a bit sudden, but overall I was immersed in the story and the 70s vibe. Maybe seeing it in a theater helped.

If I knew nothing about it and just watched it, I would guess it was from 1968.
A Quiet Place Day 1: Saw this one tonight at the theater. It is a prequel to the two previous Quiet Place films. I found this to be quite a step down from the other two. The lead actress is great in her role, but the movie itself was just ok. There is not much new information given in this movie that you don’t already know from QP II. There is one character that shows up in one of the other movies, so you get some of his backstory which is kind of cool. And then there is the cat……….cute cat, but ridiculous in this situation. I would wait for this one to come out streaming if you are interested in it.

The Beekeeper--Amazon Prime, Jason Statham. You know what you're getting into with a Statham film, kickbutt action, and that's what this was. I was in the mood for something like that, so yeah, mindless fun.
You mean multi-award winning (including an Oscar) actress Lupita Nyong'o?

Saw this one in the theater and had the same reaction. I knew exactly what I was going to get and the film delivered. Fun mindless stuff.
Yes, I was blanking on her name. She is really good in her role. By far the best thing in the movie.
Last Train To New York...remake of Korean zombie movie Train to Busan.
That's a hard act to follow. Director made some of the V/H/S movies. No cast announced yet.
I will always give remakes a chance, and I knew this was inevitable for a US remake.
If you have not seen the original, you should. One of the best zombie movies of recent years. But avoid the sequel (Peninsula) like the plague.
Kinds Of Kindness: This is the latest film from director Yorgos Lanthimos. It is actually 3 independent films in one movie all with the same cast playing different characters in each. This was one of those films that I walked out thinking WTF did I just see. It was kind of like watching 3 episodes of something like “Black Mirror”, but did not make as much sense. It did keep me engaged throughout, but I am not sure how much I actually liked it. Jesse Plemmons is great as he always is, and the rest of the cast are all good. This is one of those films that some people will really like and some probably not at all. It is definitely different.

A Comfort Zone is not a Life Sentence
In A Violent Nature
Unique take on the woods slasher giving the killers point of view. Some pretty tense moments and nice scenery. Plot and dialogue are what you'd expect, not all that great, and the pace was so slow at times as a bunch of scenes you're just following the killer like a 3rd person video game. Some good kills though. One in particular is very memorable!
Overall, this is a movie that will only appeal to fans of the genre. I had a decent time with it.

I don't know that I would call 3 out of 5 awesome, but it was an ok movie. Not something that needs to be seen in a theater IMO.
