Thought this sounded excellent from Steve Jansen, some Proggy sounds, touch of King Crimson.
Always thought members of Japan produced best work after the band.

Anything from the Japan guys is an autobuy. Their output has been top shelf throughout. Can't think of a single duff release by any of them.
It's great to see how active both Richard Barbieri (who releases his Variants.5 this week) and Steve Jansen are. I've been following these musicians since their Adolescent Sex-days with Japan and it's cool to see how they developed over the years. Mick Karn is sadly missed, but the last couple of years I've collected quite a few albums he's playing on (like Masami Tsuchiya's output). Sylvian's recent work is becoming stranger and stranger - and although I buy most of it I would love to hear some melodic work from him again.
This Exit North is well worth too. You could state that Thomas Feiner is the new Scott Walker.
Jazz-legend Lars Danielsson is one of the many guest-players.
I'll definitely be buying it. It reminds me a little of this release:

This was dedicated to and influenced in part by Mick Karn.
Got this last night and managed to squeeze in some listening time. Really enjoyable. What other related works (Jansen, Feiner, etc.) would folks suggest looking into?
Maybe the original version Of Anywhen's album will do too: https://www.discogs.com/Anywhen-The-...release/736750
Just in case you don't know them, but Nine Horses is certainly worth listening to.
And Steve Jansen is also featured on the ambient-folkpop-like "In Chances Of Light", the first album by I'anson.

After some recent shows in Japan Exit North announced one show in Europe next year (maybe more will follow): October 10th 2020 in Helmond: https://www.exitnorthmusic.com/blog/...he-netherlands
This was the setlist for the concerts in Japan:

Didn't know the song by Robbie Basho:
Another thing in a similar vein is Dark Star Safari, with Eivind Aarset and Jan Bang

Have not picked it up yet, but I will.
Prefer his first solo album. Playground Martyrs ...

Jansen's solo releases between his debut (Slope, 2007) and the recent Exit North album are all swell - his second album of songs (Tender Extinction) is even better than Slope imho.
Anything with either Jansen, Karn or Barbieri's name on it is an autobuy for me. Love the Exit North album.
"And if Warhol's a genius, what am I? A speck of lint on the penis of an alien?"
In April there will be a new Exit North, called Anyway, Still.
On May 16 the band will perform In Gothenburg, Sweden and on May 27 in Helmond, The Netherlands, while there are also a couple of shows announced in Japan.

The first Exit North release was where I first heard about Thomas Feiner, and following Jansen was how I found out about Exit North.
I've since gotten my hands on most of Jansen's BC stuff, and all of Feiner's except for the most recent pieces that he puts out under the pseudonym "Ada Moreau" in which he produces ambient works that feature his vocals processed to sound like ethereal female voices.
I prefer Jansen's more minimal approach - too much of lush strings hereBut still very good of course
"Anyway, Still" arrived today. Great job by Burning Shed in getting it here in only a week.
On my “buy soon” list. They’ve got a great vibe.

Two words - David Sylvian.
