I enjoyed tonight's episode. I like that the two groups were kept separated so that they could not discuss their voting strategy. And Erica and Xander winning immunity was perfect. If were Erica I wouldn't have hung on for food either. Shan was clearly rooting for the other guy to beat Erica, so if I were Erica my thought would be "fuck you Shan, you're not eating". And I'd jump off the beam.

If you couldn't tell, I continue to hate Shan. Once again she talked about how she'll listen to other people as long as they do what she wants them to do. There is a big difference between listening and hearing. I really want her out!

Can someone explain the strategy to me of why Shan played her extra vote (and then split them between Naseer and the other one)? If they wanted to get Naseer out, when not just throw all their votes on him from the get go? I know he has an idol but I thought the plan was to make me feel comfortable so that he wouldn't play it (which they seemed to do very well, as he was convinced it was the woman going home and didn't even seem to sniff around the idol come vote reveal time).
Please don't ask questions, just use google.

I'm with on the Shan hate wagon, primarily because she is bossy and superficial, putting on airs of being open and approachable but then turning to bossy mode at the first conversational opening. She did this like three times during the episode, most blatantly with Ricard.

My husband and I were discussing that as well. She basically used the extra vote to negate her vote AND force a tie. It made no sense at all and was a huge waste of her advantage. She's as dumb as Liana was when she fell for Xander's fake idol.

Buh Bye Shan. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Naseer and Shan left the game with idols in their pockets. I hope Xander doesn't do the same. I feel like he's smarter than that...at least I hope so.

It's a good question. With so few people left in the game, they may not. My point was that they had protection to keep them in the game and didn't use it. I'll say one thing for this season, there have been some good blindsides!

Having said that, I think only one person has used their token (or whatever it's called) to draw for safety. Is that even still in play? There's been no discussion about it. I think the idea was interesting, but it seems to be a dud.

I enjoyed last night's TC and the discussion that was held. It was so interesting to me to hear the perspectives of the black cast members as they spoke about their experiences. Lianna was especially eloquent I thought. It made me think back to the discussion held a few years ago about what it's like to be a woman. That TC happened when the Me Too movement was big. Last night's discussion happened on the heels of the racial sensitivity raised by George Floyd's murder and the increased visibility of the Black Lives Matter movement that occurred in 2020. It made me wonder how organic these TC conversation are. I don't want to diminish the experiences shared - they are real, I have no doubt. But was that conversation as natural as it seemed, or was it planted by the producers? Just like removing "guys" from "come on in". And BTW, who of you is NOT yelling "GUYS" every time Jeff says "Come on in"? Anyhow, I'm just thinking out loud and wondering are the conversations naturally occurring or is this Survivor trying to prove to the world how socially aware they are?

As for the jury...what the hell was up with Shan? That woman was on the verge of tears. You're an idiot. You lost. You lost because you're an idiot. Get over yourself.

I wonder what she's going to think when she gets the opportunity to watch the show and see her own behavior? I hope it's an eye opener for her. I can't wait to see what she has to say on the reunion show.

Also, well timed use of the extra vote by Xander.

I have felt for years the survivors are prepped in advance in private interviews prior to heading to tribal council.

As for the "come on in guys" junk, it has irked me more than it should. Throughout the episodes Probst refers to everyone as survivors, so why the big hoopla in episode 1 about using the term guys? Challenges start with, "Survivors, ready? GO!" In some languages, when referring to a group, the masculine form is used.

Has anyone else noticed that Xander has no beard? I mentioned it to my husband as we watched last night's episode, and it hadn't occurred to him that Xander hasn't shaved in three weeks and yet...nothing.

I have been a bit behind and just watched the last 4 episodes last night. I also have to question the discussion at tribal council. Although it seemed heartfelt and many good points were made, the talk came out of thin air at a time when these issues are all over the news. Was it organic? Maybe, but it’s timing is suspicious to me.

I noticed it. The dude has to be shaving. The other thing I have noticed for several years is players who are sometimes wearing glasses and other times not. Do they allow them to have contact lenses to take in and out?

I've wondered that too. My guess is yes. As someone who can't function without glasses or contacts (-7.00 if that means anything to you) I could never be on a show like this without my contact lenses. I don't get out of bed without putting my glasses on.

Same here. I have worn glasses or contacts since I was a kid.

For all the unwanted twists and turns, of which we are not done with yet apparently, I am actually enjoying the cast and competition this year. I like the open and deep strategy discussion the players are having. The shortened season is great as well as it seems to accelerate the strategy and game play. But please CBS and Jeff, remove 2/3 of the advantages and idols.

I hope they go back to having a final two, instead of three.

In the end, I enjoyed the 2nd half of the season a lot better than the first. Surprised Xander did not get any votes, even though saving Erika doomed him. Of the final 3 I thought Erika was the deserving winner.

Do you think Xander was a bit smitten with her? I agree with your second half comment, but could've done without that very last advantage.

I think Xander is a young kid who was easily swayed. There might have been a bit of a crush thing going on with her for sure.

I think Erica played a great game and deserved to win, but Xander not getting one vote is pretty surprising. Deshawn got a vote! I found this season awful and the social commentary nauseating. Yep...last season for me.

I felt the same way through the first half of the season, but they appeared to tone it down some near the end. I still don't like the fact that everyone on the cast has to have some kind of sob story. They can't have any cast members who are well adjusted people who have had a normal life. I will stick with the next season, but I totally get what you are saying.
