Bill got to know the drummer Eddie Dunlap quite well. I got to play piano with Bill and Eddie on "Naima" and "Acknowledgement" at a Coltrane tribute night. But I grew up in OK so I didn't ever hear of them until maybe the 90s.

Master Cylinder wrote material that was way longer and more involved than what was on the album, but they don't seem to have made it to the studio with any of their more elaborate suites.

Is this Master Cylinder band in any way related via personnel to the glorious 1980 group?

    http://www.mastercylinderband.com/about.html

Two MC's from Fort Worth. Seems like quite a coincidence...

    filling in some gaps....

Eddie Dunlap is the founder and artistic director of Mondo Drummers. he is also the co-founder of Arts Fifth Avenue. both are in Fort Worth. Eddie and Joe are still performing together in a band called RageOut Arkestra. Eddie is also in an instrumental surf band called Chrome Mags. there's quite a few YT videos of RageOut Arkestra. haven't seen any for Chrome Mags. here is a video of an original song called Rough House by The Arts Fifth Avenue Jazz Collective.

Joe Rogers was the musical director of The Jubilee Theater in Fort Worth for almost twenty years. this article about Joe from 2012 is excellent! The Joe Rogers Trio (with Eddie and Chris White) performing Wave in September 2012 at Scat Jazz Lounge

edit...forgot to add that Eddie did an album with jazz pianist James Vernon in 2006 called house of jazz. you can listen to 4 complete tracks on Vernon's myspace page.

ThatÂ’s too bad. I bet they most likely are sitting on a wealth of live tracks too! Are any band members on this forum?

Another great Ft. Worth band to check out is Yeti...get their disc Things To Come which I think came out in 2002. Great Zeuhly-type stuff, as you might imagine from the band name. Two members, Doug Ferguson and Tommy Atkins, are unfortunately deceased. Terrific band.

At the bottom of the credits is Scott Morgan (Synthesizer, Co-producer); I'm certain this is the same guy that I later knew in Austin from the U.T. Electronic Music Dept. and from 2 Arthur Brown albums recorded in Austin in the mid-80's, "Requiem" and "Speak No Tech". I have a 2CD reissue containing those albums with bonus tracks, "Requiem" is quite good. Scott moved to the West Coast about 35 years ago; I'll bet he was responsible for the cool synth parts on this album. Pretty sure this him: http://www.imuse.com/bio.html

The drummer is who I very unsuccessfully spoke with about doing something 25 or 30 years ago, (I reached out to him because a Texas Waysider gave me his contact), a good decade before Ken reached the correct guy - Joe Rogers- but ultimately had no better luck with!

I’ve long since resigned myself to the fact that a reissue is not coming.

The stereo master tapes are gone.

Joe Rogers has the multi-track tapes - the album would have to be mixed from scratch. The plan was to have Vic Stevens mix the album. Unfortunately Joe was afraid to ship the multi-tracks to Steve Puntolillo at Sonicraft in New Jersey where they would have transferred the tapes to 24 bit files. The whole thing fizzled out. This was back in 2012 - I still have the contract.

I absolutely loved that band. Apart from the two studio albums, and a couple of live tracks on the ProgDay 2001 CD, they also had a couple of live CDRs that I’ve sadly never been able to track down.

If you ever unearth them, and feel like helping a brother out with a file share, I will be indebted to you. Don't normally hold with this kind of thing, but there are no legit options here.

I did manage to contact one of the band members (after they split) about getting them. But he lost interest when I mentioned he'd need to ship to the UK (which I would pay for) and the correspondence fizzled. I don't like to be a pest.
