"Tanya", performed by Dexter Gordon (tenor), with Donald Byrd (trumpet) Art Taylor (drums) Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen (bass), & Kenny Drew (piano), from the lp One Flight Up.
Another new discovery for me, I think this is stunning. Gordon's long improv is exquisite - & sounds like it kicks off by more or less quoting the opening notes of Coltrane's solo in "Blue Train". The rhythm section are totally locked in throughout. I also hear a real influence on Hugh Masekela's playing from Byrd's solo.
Reminds me of italian jazz eg. Fariselli of Area fame.

Wonderful track.
Disappointed by the Lemmer Quintet, but loved the Dexter Gordon track (this is worthy of being on KOB) and the Vukan trio is even more up my alley; thx

Well I did say almost. Obviously they didn't go black metal or rap or peruvian folk or anything like that, so it's still music that is in the same sports league, but all the energy and drive and 'mind expanding' qualities seem to have been put aside for this one (at least compared to the rest of their stuff).
Please don't ask questions, just use google.

One Flight Up has been among my favorite albums ever since it came out. The total assurance of the players, the laid-back groove throughout, and -- although you can't tell from the YouTube video -- it's one of the best-recorded jazz albums ever. Pedersen's bass has gut-rumbling sub-sonics, Gordon's sax has a 'bite' which is almost live, and Byrd's trumpet, though not his best playing, is miced up close and personal. Probably Francis Wolff's finest production.
I thought I'd make myself a quick review of my favourite recordings on Clean Feed label that have been releasing some really great music for almost two decades. I got down to 21 titles by eliminating repeated artists, but I just cannot squeeze the final list any more.
So here it is, ordered by the recording year, with my quick absurd associations attached to each entry:
Eric Boeren 4tet - Song for Tracy the Turtle (2004) - free sublimed
Otomo Yoshihide ONJQ w/ Mats Gustaffson - Live in Lisbon (2004) - back from lunch
4 Corners - 4 Corners (2006) - Ken's groove
Angles - Every Woman Is A Tree (2007) - Arab spring
Carlos Bica - Materia Prima (2008) - Paris Texas
Dual Identity - Dual Identity (2009) - moon in fusion
Scott Fields - Moersbow / Ozzo (2009) - sense-in' noise
Mostly Other People Do The Killing - Coimbra Concert (2010) - tongue in cheek
Adam Lane's Full Throttle Orchestra - Live in Ljubljana (2012) - uncle Mingus
Velkro - Don't Wait for the Revolution (2012) - movie jam
Chicago Underground - Pharoah & the Underground: Spiral Mercury (2013) - lost in space
Zanussi 5 - Live in Coimbra (2013) - back to Birdland
Carate Urio Orchestra - Ljubljana (2015) - aviary
Aalberg, Kullhammar & Zetterberg - Basement Sessions Vol. 4: Bali Tapes (2016) - temple jam
Kaja Draksler - Gledalec (2016) - Art Baars
Harris Eisenstadt's Canada Day - On Parade in Parede (2016) - abstract tale
Honest John w/ Ab Baars - Treem (2016) - braxtoned
Lama w/ Joachim Badenhorst - Metamorphosis (2016) - strange dream
Daniel Levin - Live at Firehouse 12 (2016) - night watch
Larry Ochs, Gerald Cleaver & Nels Cline - What Is To Be Done (2016) - cooking lava
Selva – Canícula Rosa (2018) - desert mirage
And what are your favourite releases on this label?

Clean Feed is truly an astonishing label. In this day and age, to crank out releases like they do (and with a pretty good success rate for my ears) is a godsend. That said...there is so much CF stuff, I'll never get to it all and I feel like I've only scratched the surface.
Of your list, I quite enjoy Angels (all of their releases, but especially Injuries), Spiral Mercury, Velkro, and the Bali Tapes. I tend to go for the more energetic stuff, so just off the top of my head:
Peter Van Huffel - Iron Lung
Hairybones - Snakelust
Guillotine - S/t
FCT TRIO - From Sun Ra...
Zach Clark - Mesophase
Kris Davis - Save Your Breath
Humcrush - Enter Humcrush
Dystil - S/t
C Lillinger - First/Second Reason
Dre Hocevar - Coding Of Evidentiality
Lisbon Berlin Trio - The Line
McPhee/et al - Ticonderoga
Chris Pitsiokos - Before The Heat Death
Wire Quartet - S/t
These Arches - Hammered
