Any of you guys familiar with New York & Chicago trumpeter Jaimie Branch? I'm quite enjoying this.

    Hello Ian ... me!
    (message #1993 BTW :-))

I also liked her second and live album too:
"Fly Or Die II: Bird Dogs Of Paradise" (2019) + "Fly Or Die Live" (2021)

Ok - this one is a monster! - I was alerted to it by the Bandcamp end of month review of recent jazz releases (which featured Ghost Rhythms & the latest from Portico Quartet, amongst others). It features core line-up members Idris Rahman (saxophone), Liran Donin (bass) and Emre Ramazanoglu (drums), supported on this album by, amongst others, Collocutor’s Tamar Osborn, Steam Down saxophonist Ahnanse, & tuba player Theon Cross (is there any recording he hasn't played on this year?!!!).

This feels like an almost perfect blend of the skronk of Acoustic Ladyland & Polar Bear, with the more groove- & beats-oriented playing of Shabaka & other luminaries of the curent London scene.

Finally got around to listening to Mujician's "new" album...and damn is it great. The title track in particular is beyond praising adjectives for me.
Please don't ask questions, just use google.

    ^^^^

I already had selected a couple of albums in previous years' tops, but this one is particularly exceptional, IMHO.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

“The Chicago-born drummer made his first big splash playing with the Charles Lloyd quartet in the mid-’60s, and was soon sought after enough to become the main drummer on Miles Davis’s electric classic Bitches Brew. In the same stretch, he was also jamming with some of the free jazz pioneers, like Muhal Richard Abrams and Henry Threadgill, who would form the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, and getting tapped by pianist Bill Evans to reboot his legendary acoustic trio.”
