Thanks for the info! I could have Googled it. I just (A) haven't had time and (B) didn't really care that much.

I suspect that all the shows that would normally start up in September/October will be delayed due to the writers' and actors' strikes, so I was kind of hoping it would be on two nights a week for the long haul. LOL!

Lucky me, I'm hardly impacted by the writers strike at all.

We subscribed to Acorn TV and BritBox, and we have thousands of hours of really high quality viewing.

So if there was only 37 seconds between Chris and Wes, why did everyone assume that Wes had lost? I'm not buying that all that drama wasn't orchestrated, right down to Johnny trying to comfort Wes.

I like that the vets are all going into elimination then defecting to the same team. Things should start to get interesting now.

I think it is the lack of confidence Wes had going in, along with his reaction to how he viewed his performance. The competition being so close and not a blowout, I could see why most thought Wes lost as Wes usually shines large in these comps. I do think Johnny coming down to console Wes was legitimately coming from Bananas and not production, but with Bananas, it was probably more for show on his part. Wes' reaction led me to believe it wasn't scripted to that degree.

I don't think Wes's reaction was scripted, but that doesn't mean there wasn't a producer in Banana's ear.

Holy crap. What an elimination that was this week! I probably would have got frustrated and just given up. I don't know how these people keep their cool to get those kinds of tasks done.

I've noticed that this show has really changed since I started watching it, which wasn't that long ago.
    - The cast is aging and there is a lot less drama and angst in the house. This is, IMO, a good thing. Not having people like Cara Maria helps, as well as Amanda going out early.
    - Eliminations aren't as combative as they used to be. Looking at this season so far, there have only been two eliminations (out of eight) where contestants are directly physical with each other.
    - It's become a lot more about Big Brother vs. Survivor vs. Challengers. While the BB and Survivor alliances have been around for several seasons, I don't think I've even heard the phrase "Challengers" until this season (or maybe I didn't notice). In the past it was Vets and Rookies.

I'm glad that the game is evolving, But I'd really like to see some people who have never played BB, Survivor or Amazing Race. I'm sure that there are a lot of great athletes who could excel at this game, but it seems that you need to be on another reality show first to qualify.

Everything you said is true. The Challenge USA is intentionally different from MTV's The Challenge. They had said they were going to include previous cast members from the shows you listed. USA version is edited with network TV viewership taken into account. That means the MTV version has more drama highlighted and includes explicit nightcam hook-ups, nudity, major drinking/partying, along with the more gladiator-style/head-to-head combat events.

    From Wikipedia:

The Challenge: USA features cast members from CBS' reality shows: Big Brother, Love Island, Survivor, and The Amazing Race.

In February 2022, a new series of international seasons was announced to air later in the year. The series is comprised four new editions of The Challenge which included The Challenge: USA followed by The Challenge: Australia, The Challenge Argentina: El Desafío and The Challenge UK. These local renditions were followed by a fifth series in which available winners and select contestants of each series would compete again in Cape Town, South Africa on another season titled The Challenge: World Championship, which aired on Paramount+.

The show's second season expanded casting to include contestants from the MTV series competing against CBS cast members, and premiered on August 10, 2023. Unlike the first season, the second installment did not feature any cast member from Love Island.
I'm sure the upcoming season 39 on MTV will include more drama and action.

Yes, the vet's ages are factoring into many things. Less bravado and more strategic gameplay.

I didn't make the connection of the highlighted shows and the network. Now that you've pointed it out, that makes sense. Although I find it very interesting (and a little odd) that one show has two different formats for airing on two different networks. So, is this season of The Challenge: USA also part of a bigger international series, like the last one?

It sucks that World Championship is aired on Paramount+. I already pay for network TV, Netflix and Crave. I'm not adding another streaming service. In fact, if I wasn't sharing Netflix with my Mother (Shhhh. Don't tell. ) we would have cancelled it long ago.

I like that. I'm all about the strategy. It's one of the reasons I love Devin so much! I hope we haven't seen the last of him. He's my all-time favourite player. I hated him at first, but he's grown on me.

I believe The Challenge: USA is just the network version of MTV's The Challenge. If they do another Challenge: World Championship, it will not be filmed until well into 2024. I would assume that if they do another one, then The Challenge: USA will have a dedicated season where the winner goes on to represent that show in the World Championship.

    The return of Cara Maria!

Yeah, you get your Devin thrown in, also.

    List of Players

The Challenge: Battle for a New Champion

The Challenge season 39 is going to look extremely different.

MTV's long-running reality competition series is changing things up with The Challenge: Battle for a New Champion. Just like the title says, the new season features a cast of 24 players who have never won before. These "contenders" will battle it out for their first-ever championship title as their mental and physical limits will be pushed further than ever.

But just because the season's cast is made up entirely of non-winners, they'll still have to beat the best to be the best. Legendary Challenge champs CT Tamburello, Cara Maria Sorbello, Jordan Wiseley, Darrell Taylor, Laurel Stucky, Tori Deal, Brad Fiorenza, Devin Walker, Kaycee Clark, and Kaz Crossley will return in surprise elimination appearances throughout the season. However, unlike in season 32's Final Reckoning, the champions are only there to compete in eliminations against the contenders and will not get to earn their way into the game if they win.

Not the same as watching him play and strategize a whole season (or as long as he can last), but I'll take it.

So in the end, the vet's didn't do so well. I'm happy to see Chris win. He fought hard for it and he deserved it.

As one Challenge ends, a new one begins. I'm looking forward to a spicier MTV version.

The Challenge: USA season 2 winners reveal a challenge that you did not see in the final

It would have been an interesting one to watch!

Funny that they left it out because they thought it would be boring. IMO the entire final was boring. Complete anti-climax to what I thought was a pretty good season.

So we have not talked about the current season, which I'm digging. BUT, the math equation for this week's elimination challenge is wrong.

    The winning equation was: 3 + 47 - 37 x 3 = 39. Only the 39 and the symbols were provided.

However, the rule of BEDMAS states that the order of operations is "Brackets, Exponents, Division and Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction. So the correct answer to the winning equation is actually -61, not 39.

    3 + 47 - 37 x 3 = x
    3 + 47 - 111 = x
    x = -61

THANK YOU for also seeing that!

I was blown away by the stupidity!

At least one of the competitors is an engineer (Ed), and he should absolutely have picked that up!

I can only think that they were told (off camera, in advance) that they need to do the math in a strictly linear fashion.

    Duncan

I assumed that as well. Of course, they had a finite number of numbers to work with, so CT's experience might have led him to figure out how the equation worked.

Either way, I was very disappointed in the show that they would do this.

    From Nelson:

March 5th 2023 remains vivid in my memory, a persistent presence in my thoughts. I consciously embrace it as the initiation of a new chapter. Opting for amputation, I am determined to own March 5th and redefine its significance in my life.
Get ready, amputation world! I'm on my way! I am scheduled for surgery on March 5th, 2024.
    Surgery was successful.

Holy fuck! I didn't know anything about this. Oh man, that's got to be tough. I hope he has a great recovery and that his attitude stays as positive as it seems in that post.

For some reason, Paramount + does not stream the current MTV Challenges (even though it has an MTV hub), so I'm a season behind at this point. Looking forward to the All-Stars.
