I like old black & white movies that have those huge two story homes with winding staircases and high ceilings and heavy duty furniture, but those days are gone. People might have one or two pieces to accent their house these days (or a hand-me-down), but yeah, most people have to be more mobile. Even on the Antique Roadshow furniture doesn't draw a huge est. value, unless it happens to be by a well known designer or old and rare.
A few months ago my parents had to call around to multiple thrift stores. Trying to find one willing to take a china cabinet off their hands.
