George Duke Illusions. It's not hard to see why Zappa hired him to play keys.

I heard Metallica...Re-Load this morning. I'm now listening to Robin Trower.....Twice Removed From Yesterday. What heavy album. Bluesy, heavy, trippy.

Today was 'Stadacone' by 'Sloche'. Been a while and I listened to their debut (In and Out) on Saturday, which I like a little better of the two, but Stadacone is also a cool listen.

Been spinning some recently acquired stuff:

David Borden - The continuing story of counterpoint
A formal Horse - meat mallet
    Emma-Jean Thackray - Yellow
    Graham Costello - Second Lives

Especially that Graham Costello record presses all the right buttons for me.

This is such a fascinating record - in many ways, it's the closest O'Hagan has ever got to the accoustic basis of the first Microdisney record - but replacing the garage synth sounds with lush strings & brass (the sonic texture is therefore different, but melodically, it's actually very similar).

Of course, the vocals couldn't be more different!!!

Totally agree about the Costello - it's really grown on me (initially, I was slightly disappointed in contrast with the more expansive predecessor, Obelisk - but I'm beginning to see them as exploring different potentialities of the STRATA band). Have you checked out his side project, AKU! ?

Still finding my way with the Thackray...

Those first couple minutes of 'Beet, Maize & Corn' are sublime. I'm enjoying Sean's latest, 'Radum Calls' probably more than anything he's ever done. Also quite acoustic.

Cool. I have world diary somewhere. I should look for it and play it. That's the only one I have by him though.
