I've heard nothing but great things about the Northwoods League experience. And yes, they're known for having a great beer selection at their venues.

Sadly, here in Waterloo, Iowa (state motto: "You're on your own"), the concessions are decidedly NOT part of the draw. There may be one non-mainstream beer available, but otherwise it's whatever the distributor thinks baseball fans like to drink. You know what that means. And the less said about the food, the better. Fortunately, the tix are inexpensive, usually small crowds, and the level of play can be surprisingly high (or entertainingly low).

Happy with what I have to be happy with.
Our local team is called the Kalamazoo Growlers as in "beer growler". Our mascot is "Porter" also named after beer. The team's stadium is only a couple of miles from Bell's Brewery and they are a major sponsor of the team. Thus, there are always various Bell's beers on tap, along with the usual Bud & Miller products.
The Northwoods league is all college kids playing summer ball. Usually our team has at least one or two local WMU guys on it, plus others from around the country. Most of these guys will never make the major leagues, but every so often one will break through. Anyway, it is a fun thing to do in the summer.
When my nephew spent a summer playing Northwoods ball, my brother hit a few parks in Wisconsin. He said the beer at each venue was damn good. Maybe they just benefited from decent distributors.

Oh, Leinies - we do get that at least at our park, but mostly the shandy, which I really don't dig. Jealous of the scene you have in Kzoo!

Don't speak of crappy concessions until you've visited PNC Park in Pittsburgh. The worst I've ever had.

Not a fan of their Shandy either, but Leinies Red and thier Cream Stout are both favorites of mine.
Yup, we have it really good for beer here in Southwest Michigan. Bell's, Founders, and Dark Horse are all within 45 minutes of where I live and there are tons of smaller breweries in the area too.
Never been to Target field, but my wife’s nephew went to the University of Minnesota and played in the marching band. We went to several football games there, and it is one of the few college football stadiums I have been to where they served beer. They always had a nice selection of local Minnesota product which I took full advantage of.
Buster Olney is reporting that it is increasingly likely that Freeman will not be a Brave next year.
That’s like he O’s dumping Cal, the Yanks letting Jeter walk. I can’t imagine a stupider move (or non-move).

This is a tough one. He's Braves royalty but he is going into his 13th season. How many prime years does he have left realistically? Is he looking for 3-5 years or 6-10? Made $22MM last year and I'm sure he's looking for a raise. Baseball is littered with paying for names after their prime. I hope they find a way to work it out, so he stays a Brave.

I was scanning the news yesterday for signs of a break through in the lockout negotiations. The owners are stating that if a deal isn't reach Monday, the full season isn't going to happen. Of course, they are the ones that have yet to make any significant concessions so looks like they're ready to fall on their own swords.

He wants six years; Braves offered five. It’s only a gut feeling, but I think he’ll age well. His swing is consistent. He’s not a guy that swings for the fences (he’s said he’s aiming to put the ball over the shortstop’s head). He runs well and is fairly athletic. I think he’ll be consistently in the top five until he’s 37 or 38.
He’s one of those guys. It’s hard to hate him even when you hate that he’s beating you.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?
There are only 10 types of people in the World, those who understand binary and those that don't.
I'm one of the 212.
The Marlins appear to have rooted the organization a bit and they look like they are in a good position to compete very soon. They have a top 5 minor league system at the moment and the money to spend on payroll. Maybe Jeter left because they didn't seem willing to spend it.
WANTED: Sig-worthy quote.
Or maybe as a former player, he could not buy into mgmts position on the lockout and with games about to be cancelled, wanted no part of that face ....
