Thread: Computer Question

At this moment there seems to be another weird problem with my computer. It starts as soon as I turn on the power, so I don't have to push the button on the computer.

Sounds like another BIOS/battery related issue. Whatever setting was in the CMOS before is now changed.

Now if I only would find a way to remove the battery from it's holder.

That often happens when a machine is powered off without proper shutdown. Then powered back on. But as Plasmatopia said, the BIOS setting to boot after power is restored could've spontaneously enabled itself. A slight under-voltage can cause digital circuitry to behave erratically. Once you figure out how to remove the battery, you'll want to short the jumper to clear the CMOS before inserting the new battery. That jumper will be a small square piece of plastic, inserted onto two of a set of three pins. Located right next to the battery. Remove that jumper and short the center pin with the pin that's not connected. Wait about 15 seconds, then put it back where it was before.

I always shut down, how I'm supposed to do.

How to get rid of advertisements in the new version of Outlook. I had Windows Mail, which worked perfectly, but now my computer is switching to Outlook and I get floaded with advertisements. If I want to switch to classic Outlook, I have to subscibe to Office 365, which I don't want. I still have an older version of Office, which I'm happy with and if I ever should switch to a new version, I just want a version I can buy. No subscribtions for me.

^^ Use a different app like Thunderbird. Why does it have to be the MS mail app?

Because it came with Windows and it is free.

Non-Microsoft email apps like Thunderbird will be less vulnerable to malicious emails and their attachments. The ubiquity of Windows and its built in apps make it an easy target for malware.

Perhaps for my next computer. I tend to prefer to keep my e-mails and I'm to lazy to have to set up everthing again.

Can't we add other email apps with Gmail too?

I suspect there is a way to save all your emails to a file and then open that with Thunderbird, but don't quote me. I have been using Thunderbird for years now to access my Gmail. I really dislike how Gmail functions....or at least how it was functioning years ago when I made the switch. I have Thunderbird installed on 4 different computers and it downloads all my emails straight to the computer.

    That's what I do, too.
