You can watch a lot of clips and live-songs from David Poe's site: https://davidpoe.com/video

I first heard of his music when he released his debut-album in 1997. I call his music progressive singer-songwriter-stuff, because he uses a lot of effects on his guitars, often has other musicians companying him and because his compositions are dark and adventurous.
He didn't release a lot of albums, partly because he writes a lot for other musicians.

    Here's the live-song The Pornographer:

Seems to be recovering okay from the posts I've seen. He has to walk a short distance every day, and he also got a new lightweight bass guitar as a gift from the band since he can't hold anything heavy.

    Long Weekend!! ,

I had free time on Good Friday today so I watched "The Paris Concert: The Amnesty International - The Struggles Continues..." Great video with Peter Gabriel, Youssou N'Dour, Jimmy Page & Robert Plant, Radiohead and Tracy Chapman. Tracy played Fast Car, an absolutely perfect and moving song that I adore. Page and Plant played some Zep which was a treat. Gabriel fluently spoke in French for the Paris audience, always so respectful. Good tunes too - In Your Eyes, Signal The Noise, etc.

I've got 3 or so DVDs up for rotation tonight. Starting with Electric Light Orchestra Live: The Early Years. Shows from Brunnel University (1973), Rockpalast (1974) and Fusion (1978). ELO Eldorado was one of the first albums I owned as a 13 year old. LOVE that album and early ELO is the right recipe for enjoyment tonight. Have some Flower Kings and Genesis on reserve. Not sure if I'll stay awake for everything!!

What a great day/night of DVD watching. The Amnesty Show was the best. I hadn't played it in years. Since the Luke Combs, country star, did a cover of Fast Car, including a live duet with Tracy Chapman, I've been obsessed with this tune. It is one of the most simple yet powerful tunes I've ever heard. The Radiohead tunes were excellent too. And of course, Peter Gabriel.

The ELO early years was excellent show. To see Jeff Lynne so young from the 1973 show was a blast. The latest concert was 1975 - this early period is likely my favourite era of the band. It featured lots of music from On A Third Day and Eldorado.

I watched what best is to describe as a musical impression: the DVD that came with the 2CD-set Face-à-Face from Erik Truffaz, which features live performances of his bands Ladyland and Quartet. You could describe trumpet-player Truffaz as a French alternative for Nils Petter Molvær (although he was born in Switserland). Personally I prefer Molvær, but this is a nice alternative.

Here's a clip from a more recent show:

Tonight I played parts of the DVD that came with the double-CD The Mothership Returns from Return To Forever, released in 2012. The DVD contains documentary The Story Of Return To Forever plus a sneak peek movie trailer of that film, plus long two performances of tracks that are also on the double-disc. The tracks are After The Cosmic Rain and The Romantic Warrior and feature Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Lenny White, Jean-Luc Ponty and Frank Gambale.

You can watch some of it on the Facebook of Chick Corea & RtF: https://www.facebook.com/argonautade...9511180351023/

Thanks, Rene - I'll check the Facebook link.

I must repeat, this particular time in the evening is the highlight of the week. Love Fridays and love

Tonight - Scrape Across The Sky - IQ. This is from a show in Holland from 2014. There is 3 hours of bonus material. It's a BluRay.
If I make it through without nodding off, I'll also play a BluRay of Cast Infonco Live.

The IQ show was excellent. Mike Homes is a skillful guitarist with a signature song. Peter Nicholls' vocals classic and match the music perfectly. I saw IQ twice, once at NF and once at FMPM. My favourite IQ album is Subterranea - great eplic 2 CD. IQ didn't take themselves too seriously, the wore Christmas outfits for their encore in the video.

That Cast Sinfonico is kind of an odd duck. Most Blu-rays used higher res audio than DVD counterparts. Like DTS Master Audio. Or at a minimum multichannel sound. Alfonso chose to use 16/48 PCM stereo only audio. The most basic for even a DVD.

That's interesting. I didn't play Cast last Friday so will pull it out next Friday.

Thanks, Happy Friday!! Enjoy the Cast Blu-Ray. I've been listening to Cast since their third album came out. I saw them once early on, too. Tonight I'm listening to:

    - Jethro Tull - Stormwatch Associated Tracks (from the 40th Anniversary book thingy.)
    - Bubu - Anabelas
    - Zombi - Direct Inject

I agree, Cast is awesome. The show was great they had a orchestra joining them last night and it wasn't distracting. Cast's lead guitarist is amazing. All the musicians and singer were in top form. They were playing in a beautiful large theater. I'll definitely tune in Lorne!

I watched the DVD Live At The Crescendo Festival from Spaced Out yesterday. Spaced Out was the heavy jazzrock-band from Antoine Fafard, who went solo after the band split up.
Here's a short piece of the show where they play the track Toxix:

DVD: https://www.discogs.com/release/4929...cendo-Festival (there's also a CD-version of this concert, although there are less tracks on it: https://www.discogs.com/release/4394...cendo-Festival)

B.t.w. there's another Spaced Out-DVD, Live in 2000. Although the music is good, the visuals are terrible. They often use the same shots of the musicians, while you can hear they play different music at that point. The registration was done with just one camera, which explains this.

Happy Friday!! My favourite time of the week. Ready to watch a Prog DVD and have some .

Styx -The Grand Illusion and Pieces of Eight- Live in Blu Ray. High definition with 11 cameras in the historic Orpheum theater in Memplis TN. I saw Styx at Bluesfest in Ottawa about 10 or so years ago and they smoked! Have tickets for their May 21st show in Laval Quebec (right after Terra Incognita).

I watched a part of the DVD Way Back Home : Live From Rochester, NY from Steve Gadd Band. This is part of a CD/2DVD-set from 2016.
Great relaxed modern jazz from a band with Walt Fowler, Larry Goldings, Jimmy Johnson and Michael Landau. The surround mix gives you an excellent idea of this show with all players coming from different speakers.

    Here's the trailer:

Hope you're having a good weekend! What year is the show on the Blu-Ray from? I saw Styx once, with Kansas at the Beacon Theater. That was in the early or mid-'90s. I never listened much to Pieces of Eight for some reason, except for "Boat on the River," which I always thought was a pretty amazing song.

Thanks, Jed. Having a great weekend. The Styx show is from 2011. I wish that was the show I was seeing in Montreal/Laval in a few weeks. Styx is amazing live, that know how to create a party atmosphere. Did the show you saw in the mid-90s have Denis DeYound in the lead?

Rene, I like the Gadd video. Would be interested in the surround version.

Nice! That's a pretty good deal, and it's good that the DVDs have found a good home and enriched another Marillion fan somewhere. Check out the Kettle of Fish DVD soon, because I had problems with my copy of that, I returned it to The Company, and the second copy had the same issues - skipping or tracking errors beginning about halfway through the disk. CTTOI, my copy is within eyesight, and I may not have tried it with an Oppo, I can't remember, but I'll do so asap. It may have been an equipment issue. It happened at a time when The Company wasn't very responsive so I didn't pursue it further. Their service is very good now, in my experience.
