Thanks, guys. I'm staying positive.
Thanks, guys. I'm staying positive.
Since I've seen you're posting again, I hope you're oké Greg!
Yesterday I watched Electric Asturias Live In USA, the DVD from the concert at the Rites Of Spring Festival on May 5th 2013.
It's a wonderful show, lovely filmed by Zeitgeist Media (Adele Schmidt, José Zegarra Holder and Scott Bastedo), known for their excellent Romantic Warriors-documentaries.
The Japanese band Electric Asturias had released two albums when they played at ROSfest; since then two other CD's were produced.
Here's the promotional video (2 parts!):
Thanks, Rene, I'm staying strong and hoping for surgery next week. Hospital food in the interim, yuk!
I'll check out the video for sure. Looks interesting.
I did some detective-work on the songs Electric Asturias played on Live In USA (^^)
Most of the tracks come from their first two albums, "Fractals" (2011) and "Elementals" (2014, which means that this album wasn't released when they played at ROSfest!); two tracks are part of the suites on both CD's ("Undine" = part I from "Suite Of "Elemental"" and "The Lancer"= part III of "Suite of "Fate"").
"Woods" is from the album "In Search Of The Soul Trees" (2008) by the original Asturias.
"Distance" is also from the original Asturias; it's from "Cryptogam Illusion" (1993). It is also performed by Acoustic Asturias on their first album "Bird Eyes View" (2004).
The only track I couldn't trace is "The Snow Is Dancing" ("Snow Dancing"), but I think this is a cover from the composition with the same name by Claude Debussy, which makes sense since this is a piano-solo by keyboardplayer Yoshihiro Kawagoe.
In honour of Ed Mann who died last week I watched the DVD The Band From Utopia : A Tribute To The Music Of Frank Zappa. This is a live-recording from a concert at the Jazz Open in Stuttgart, Germany, July 1994. The band featured not only Ed Mann, but also Ike Willis, Arthur Barrow, Tommy Mars, Robert Martin, Chad Wackerman, Jay Dittamo, Bruce and Tom Fowler and Kurt McGettrick.
Thanks for keeping the thread moving. I'll watch the video.
Had heart valve replaced on Thursday with major complications but I'm out of icu and an not safe.
I meant o now safe.
Yesterday I watched the DVD "Lalle Larsson's Seven Deadly Pieces". It's a concertfilm in seven movements for chamber orchestra and electric guitars, bass, drums, percussion and of course Larsson's keyboards. The concert you hear is the actual concert, the movie you see contains shots from the concert and the rehearsals and atmospheric nature-clips.
Here's a promotional clip:
Rene- Super interesting orchestration! Minus - I'll post next week!

Last Friday (after France-The Netherlands' 0-0) I watched the DVD from the CD/DVD-set We Like It Here from Snarky Puppy.
This is a head-phone live-concert from Collin Benders' Kytopia Studio, with interview-sections and short clips from the Europe-tour Snarky Puppy did.
Great progressive jazzrock!
Here's the track What About Me?
And here the closing track Lingus:
I knew the name Snarky Puppy but I never heard/saw their music. Very intricate with a real groove. All very accomplished musicians. I would definitely consider picking up some of their music.

Last Friday - I watched my new DVD - Genesis 1976. includes Opening, I Know What I Like, Fly On A Windshield, Carpet Crawlers, The Cinema Show (Part Two), Entangled, Supper's Ready (Part Two) and Los Endos. I think this is also available on the web but it was a fantastic show - the band at their peak.

^^Looks great. Yes, for me 1976/1977 is Genesis' best period too.
I've watched a part of After Crying Live. This is a DVD from a show recorded in 2007 at the Periferic Festival. I consider Arter Crying as the Hungarian Isildurs Bane.
Here's the complete show:
^^ I adore After Crying. The first side long track on Megalázottak És Megszomorítottak is breathtaking. I would rank it as one of my all time favourite songs. i regret I missed them at Nearfest. I own their full catalog. I like AC's instrumental music the most. Almost Pure Instrumental and a double blue CD are my favourites. I'll check on the video you posted.
EDIT - The blue double CD - just remembered - Struggle For Life. I think the band has also done covers of the great prog bands from the 70s.

Last night I listened to Fish’s The Moveable Feast, from his Europe tour for his Feast of Consequences tour. It has two shows in Germany on 4 CDs. I hadn’t listened to this one fully before. It’s very good - better than I’d realized for a late Fish show. His voice sounds fine overall, aside from a few places where he tries to get a little too fancy. His band is great at both shows, the only difference between the two shows being the keyboard player.
The High Wood Suite from Feast works very well live - I hadn’t listened to that live before. For me, the studio version doesn’t work that well (I’m in the minority here), but live it works very well.
I was thinking of you, Mozo! Hope your weekend was good.
Cool Jed. Thanks for thinking about me. Had a great weekend?!
Friday Night Again!!!
Back to my Fish collection! kettle Of Fish - Video Collection, I think Jed said there are issues with this DVD. Sleeve design, Mark Wilkinson. Songs include State Of Mind, Big Wedge, A Gentlemen's Excuse Me, Internal Exile, Hold Your Head Up, Lady Let It Lie, Fortunes Of War, Just Good Friends, and Brother 52. It's a quick 45 minutes so I'll turn to my attention t my 4 DVD Box of Tull's works and watch disc 4.

^ I had problems, and I'm still not sure if they were related to the DVD player being used or not. Good luck!
Friday Night!
Electric Light Orchestra - The Early Years. From Brunnel University 1973, RockPalast 1974, Fusion 1976. This is my favourite part of ELO's career. It's really cool to see such a young Jeff Lynne even though that he still looks ageless. There is so many great tunes. ELO was my gateway drug to prog and as a young pup. I still love their music - Eldorado is a top 10 album of all time for me. If that's not enough, I have a Transatlantic DVD of Live At L'Olympia. It's in 5.1 Sourround. This is billed as the "final flight". I've always enjoyed the band.

I only watched the ELO DVD. All three eras. It's interesting there was solo playing by individual players. The current ELO focuses more on Jeff Lynne. Their bass player also took lead vocals on different songs. I recommend this DVD in anyone's collections.
