    2022 NCAA BB Tournaments

It's time for my favorite two weeks of the sporting year! Once again, the B1G has a buttload of teams in, and many will probably get taken out early, as usual. But my Iowa Hawkeyes just finished an amazing last month, and if they play the way they have been they have a legit chance to make a deep run this year; even more so than last IMO. Plus, the Iowa women are a #2 seed behind Caitlin Clark, who might just be the best shooter in the B1G, male or female. Iowa State has an excellent-if-inconsistent team, and as an 11-seed could surprise some people. And to top it off, my local UNI Panthers had a decent year and will be playing in the first round of the NIT tonight.

I haven't finished my bracket yet, and never take it too seriously, but Thursday through Sunday of the first week will find me glued to the tv for several hours a day. I love it!

I also think Iowa can make a deep run. In the end I think it will be either Gonzaga, Arizona or Kansas winning it all, but it should be entertaining as always.

Having lived in Providence until I was 22 and gone to Villanova for an undergraduate degree, my heart's with Providence, but my money's on Villanova.

Seton Hall's my alma mater but I don't hold much hope for this year's tournament. They may be able to get past TCU but with Arizona up next their future appears brief.

Welp, I usually like 12-5 upsets, but that was one I was not expecting. Credit to Richmond, but that was a very different-looking Iowa team than the one I was following the past few weeks. Frees up several hours in my schedule going forward, though...

Who had SPU over Kentucky? Gotta love the bracket buster, even if its your bracket.

It was most definitely or not. I actually have Tennessee going to the finals.

Got 4 games wrong yesterday inc Kentucky - but I didn't have them going past sweet 16. All my final 8 etc. are still in.

Still six B1G teams in, but TBH I wouldn't cry if two get knocked out today. MSU v Duke: Love me some Izzo, but this being Coach K's last dance I'd love to see Duke get at least to the Final Four. And Tennessee v Michigan: Go Vols, because f#ck Juwan Howard.

On my other fronts, the Iowa women made short work of their first-round opponent and move on to play Creighton tomorrow. If you haven't watched them play, you should check them out. And my UNI Panthers go up against BYU tonight in Provo in the NIT; tough game.

Looking forward to more (for me) must-see-TV today and tomorrow!

    ow!
I don't see MSU or Michigan getting passed these two teams. Then again, I figured Iowa would go fairly deep, so what do I know.......

Ok, all brackets are busted that leaves the peeps who just picked wily nilly. Baylor, Kentucky blah blah blah.

I'm so pissed at myself. I had Miami in the first two rounds and took them out because I thought the hype I was hearing from them late in the season would make them a good tourny pick and I talked myself out of it.

ETA: Watching St. Peters/Murray State. Just a few minutes left. Since I don't have either team in this game it just fun to watch and that's kinda cool as brackets are your rooting interest most of the time.

Watched my Buckeyes go out. They hung their hat on Defense all year, but were not able to replicate that in this game. I haven't followed College Basketball for a number of years now, (my disinterest as I've grown older is only exceeded by my massive yawn for professional Baseball.) Villanova has excellent outside shooting, which should serve them well going forward, and their defense was at least as good as Ohio St's. Take it with a grain of salt, cos I don't follow this anymore, but I wouldn't at all be shocked to see 'Nova cutting down the nets at the end of this tourney.

I'm banking on this; not real money, that is, just a gentleman's bet. Still I'd be very grateful if Providence wins. They should have in 1973 if Marvin Barnes hadn't been injured in the final-four game. Marvin Barnes - woulda, coulda, shoulda. He scored 52 points in a game against Austin Peay, and that was years before the 3-point shot.

The B1G is down to two teams, which is about par for the course for the conference. Sorry to see Wisconsin go down, but at least it was to Iowa State, which has put together a remarkable season under a first-year coach who took over a program that only won two (!) games last season. My own bracket is pretty pathetic, although I did pick seven of the Sweet Sixteen teams. Kind of rooting for Duke now; can you imagine the pressure Krzyzewski's team must feel to send him out on a winning note?

The Iowa women surprised me and came up short against Creighton yesterday. Honestly, I don't think they would have been able to hang with the likes of South Carolina anyway. The Iowa State women are still dancing, though.

I actually came out of this weekend pretty well. I am in 2nd place in two brackets and 10th place in another (this one has about 50 people in it). I had Kentucky going to the final 4 which hurt me, but my other 3 are all still in.
