Frog in boiling water
I grew up listening to Dodger games on the radio. I was too young to realize how damn great Vin was but over the years I've learned and how I've learned. The greatest sportscaster of all time, in any country or region. He saw more baseball than maybe anyone on the planet and wove stories from yesteryears into his casts that were so fantastic.
He was a god among men in that profession. His calls of Thompson's home run were neutral as was his call of Gibson's home run. He didn't let his Dodger ties ruin him and he was absolute genius in how to not make himself the story like many broadcasters can do.
I do miss those days, listening to a Dodger's game, sitting on the floor playing board games with my friends. He's an icon and deserved all awards and accolades he got.

Great just great. Bill Russell and Vin in the same week.

He taught me soooo much about baseball, just by listening to him call a game..
Can any of you imagine he was the Dodgers play-by-play Announcer for 67 years...!
He was one of the greatest if not greatest baseball announcers, a true legend. But he did more than baseballl. He did NFL football as well. Check out his call of the NFL championship game... "The Catch", 1982 Niners v Cowboys... Montana to Clark... I'm Sure Youtube will have it.
Rip Vin!
The voice of my youth, and the voice of Los Angeles. There will never be another like him. I predict a movie will come, I just hope they do it right. RIP
Day dawns dark...it now numbers infinity.
in addition to that, he also called the legendary "catch" game in which Joe Montana's Niners beat the cowboys in the NFC title game, for that he earns a spot in SF and LA lore![]()
